We have the best fighting force in the world and we haven't had the draft since Vietnam. There's enough shit birds in the military already with an all volunteer force. Still it's much better with people that actually want to serve. Our fighting force is better with an all volunteer force.

Being opposed to the draft goes way back. There have been folks who did not want to serve in the Revolutionary war and the Civil War. Very violent anti-draft riots broke out in New York in the 1860's opposing the Union drafting folks.

I can't see us reinstituting the draft for anything short of all out WWIII with China AND Russia and all of their minions.

That's my concern. These fugging politicians are wanting that war. Begging for it. Making money off it if it does happen. And they won't be the ones dying for it.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
