I thought signing up for selective service never went away.
It didnt but so many young men stopped registering that they just now made it automatic through the SS card.
I know that a male of that age who did not register for the draft is not eligible for any federal student financial aid. I don't know if that also applies to the slew of welfare programs or not.
Both of our boys did register, but they come from a long line of folks who did serve.
I'm sure that many of the Democrat leaders made sure that the system does not auto-cross check the registration status when applying for handouts.
Plus, I really dont think a lot of young people are even aware that they are supposed to register. I just cant imagine a public school in California reminding students to do it, much less some of their weird private schools.
