I'mma say it a little louder for those in the back row. Fuck the US Government and the warmongering politicians. Includes Trump. Fuck em. If we need to turn out for a war on our soil, fine.
But the rest of the world can kiss my lilly white ass. And I hope the majority of Americans feel the same. I've had enough. How long do you believe true isolationism would work out for America? Given the technology of today/future? This global multiculturalism ain't going so swimmingly, unless you're some light bulb headed middle eastern goat humper

My oldest (21) has to register when he turned 18. My twins, who both just turned 18, went online to register and it said they were already registered. So, somewhere within the last three years it has changed to an automatic thing. I also agree with Fatty though. I don’t mind us protecting our own soil but f$&k going to some third world shit hole that’s going to end up being ran by another dictator when it’s all said and done. Those folks have been fighting since nearly the beginning of time and they won’t stop until the world ends. That’s biblical

Just a suggestion - if you are concerned about this spend a little time and see how the Selective Service System is structured. Its really quite interesting. Once upon a time I was a designated augmentee to a draft board. My job was to ensure the locally appointed board was provided with necessary support to function as intended. This was all a training exercise but still enlightening. The local draft board doesn't decide if you are drafted - when you get the notice you are already there. From that point on you either get an exemption through the local board or somehow fail the physical. Otherwise you are about to start a new line of employment.
Will be interesting to se if women have to register. Equal rights mean exactly that.

Given the technology of today/future? I honestly don't care what happens anywhere outside our borders. Nobody else has a war that's worth drafting and sending American's involuntarily to die for another cause. We've spent enough blood over the decades. If volunteer forces need to go, so be it. That's a choice. But I don't want them spilling their blood outside our borders either. Someone wants to bring war to our shores, different story. Our politicians are all to willing to send other peoples sons to die for a cause that doesn't help anyone. History has proven it. If the politicians want a draft, it needs to start with mandatory front line boots on the ground service by the fucking politicians. Lead the way... Otherwise, how about not starting any more wars and screw the military industrial complex. Another aspect to this. We sent a whole bunch of good men to die in Korea and Vietnam. Decent men died while the skirt wearing hippie shits stayed home, married, raised shitty children that we are dealing with today. It thins the pool of good men at the expense of letting weak men reign at home. That will not ever end well. Ever.

My son will be 18 in exactly a year from today. I dont know if I'd be able to let him go over there if he was drafted. Not for a war like this.I sure wouldn't want him to So; now you know how people felt about Vietnam ? No shade on those that served.

I personally know 3 people in Selma that were drafted but the military said they had criminal minds. One was my Dad and one was my Uncle. The other was a friend that grew up with my Dad. That is what I was told anyway. This was for Vietnam in the late 60s.

I always thought it was a law that as a citizen at the age of 18, you had to register for the draft. Don’t think it ever did. They simply quit doing it. Used to hear those commercials on radio and TV telling to do it once you reached your 18 birthday at the local post office

We have the best fighting force in the world and we haven't had the draft since Vietnam. There's enough shit birds in the military already with an all volunteer force. Still it's much better with people that actually want to serve. Our fighting force is better with an all volunteer force. Being opposed to the draft goes way back. There have been folks who did not want to serve in the Revolutionary war and the Civil War. Very violent anti-draft riots broke out in New York in the 1860's opposing the Union drafting folks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City_draft_riotsI can't see us reinstituting the draft for anything short of all out WWIII with China AND Russia and all of their minions.

Yep, but FFP being clueless is SOP. Clueless? MF I don't ever recall taking a shot at you. Maybe I have, but if so you weren't important enough to remember. The 1960's and 70's is when the queer movement began. We all thought it was funny on MASH, not realizing it was gonna take a mainstream turn later down the road. Being a dumbass isn't easy, the only people who see it aren't you. Obviously you don't have a good mirror. Those same people I was talking about are responsible for the woke idiots running around today. The ones so many on this forum love to bitch about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960s_in_LGBTQ_rightsMight try doing some reading. I know it's hard for you.

That is what I was told anyway. This was for Vietnam in the late 60s. That's something I've never heard of. Some of the best elite fighting forces we had in WW2 were made up of motivated criminal minds. The officers didn't like them, but it's well documented how effective they were.

Having been in the military - I would MUCH rather stand alongside someone that volunteered vs. someone that was forced.
I want to trust that the person next to me is trained, well prepared, and has my back as much as I would have their’s. I want to believe that the military leaders would want the same.
Having said that - I would absolutely not want my son drafted, he didn’t choose to serve in the military and it’s not his fight.
