There's no gas to buy in Cuba. There wouldn't be any here either if Kamala had cheated her way in. Be thankful ya whiners.

Umm, there is no gas in Cuba because Trump cut off their supply of oil.
If Kamala had won we would still have gas but you would have to use a CBDC government fuel ration card to get it.

Exactly, if the price of gas going up was to keep them breaking even, their stock wouldn’t jump. They’re making record profits right now and that’s all there is to it. Should be illegal to raise prices unless you’re showing a loss on something like fuel.

Fuel, water and electricity are necessary for a civilized society and should be regulated.
There’s nothing “liberal” about that statement.
I’m all for people making money, but those are essentials and 99.9% of the public have no choice but to pay it.

What's wrong with a company making profits?

Nothing wrong with a business making a profit. Thats what they are in business for. I do think that most people/companies are so dang greedy that they will do just about anything to squeeze every last dime out of you. When it comes to gas, a product that you pretty much everyone needs to purchase it gets a bit trickier.

Do you complain about buying bottled water for $1.25/ 20 Oz bottle? That's over $7.50/ gallon, which is about twice what gasoline costs today.

Which is more essential, water or gasoline?

Gasoline by far. No I don’t complain about bottled water. I’d argue that clean water (most places) is doable yourself. Out of the three, this is the one most people can handle if push comes to shove.
Not too many folks with refineries in their backyards…. Or power plants.

what gets me is the meteoric rise in price at the pump and the molasses in winter return. Crude went to 117 sunday and price at pump jumps .50-$1 overnight. Crude back down to $87 but those pump prices wont return for a month or 2.

I read yesterday that part of the problem was that the oil tankers that were moving through the straight turned off their transponders so it appeared that they weren't moving so that made the futures rise. So when they figured out what had happened it made the futures go back down. So an artificial spike and a slow return to level. Yea sounds right.

The big thing was the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve intervened at the same time Trump started saying that things were under control and everything was fine. They leveraged a huge amount of debt against the market and created a massive paper slam that brought the price down. No real oil was actually bought or sold. If it had been done by a private company there would be massive lawsuits and investigations. Scott Bessent made his Wall Street name by shorting futures markets and he knew exactly what to do to crush the oil price.
