Killing a deer or turkey out of season should carry a 3-5 yr license suspension. Sadly this wouldn’t even stop some of them.
I’d argue the state pushing back season dates has caused a lot of regular folk to hunt early in south bama. If they keep doing it, there will be more and more who stick the middle finger to them as they’ve continually are finding ways to screw us.

I heard a shot at 7:40 am yesterday morning and doubt someone was just checking their pattern that early. I think the attitude in bama is “I’m hunting turkeys when they’re gobbling, state laws be damned”. That sure is unfortunate for the law abiding folks.
People are telling me i should try hunting early or pre season
Just shows no character - a law is a law. Ruin any kind of name you hav if get caught. It would just be nice to hav a property with turkeys on it when season starts

Zero issue with cameras on private land. Rules are rules, for public etc. I’ll use all the cameras I want on my land. Already seeing trespassers, potential thieves, predators, etc. Anyone can despise me for that, and it will affect me less than running over a squirrel on the highway. I guarantee I’ve been hated for much more meaningful stuff than just an idiotic opinion on a forum.

Yep. Ain’t got nothing for a man who will kill one before season opens.
Cameras are what we hav now! I bet i do not run them on my fields next year after early November and i could give a crap how you use yours!! And cameras are great for watching poachers on roads so can crack down on them

God forbid the DCNR makes some changes in season timing in an attempt to benefit the species. In hindsight could they be wrong? Sure. At least they are trying something. They aren’t just throwing sh!t at the wall to see what sticks.
Anyone hunting early or hunting over bait is a loser. It’s pretty simple. They’re a loser in life, a loser in character, and most likely a loser in all relationships in their pathetic life.
My Dad always said the only thing dumber than a turkey was a turkey hunter.. 😜

I don’t have too big of a problem that they tried it but after all evidence showing it has 0 effect and other states that held the line showing a stable if not improving turkey numbers…the fact they haven’t even thought about moving it back up is the frustrating part. Once they take away we never get back. This doesn’t affect north bama hunters nearly as much as us in the south. Yes, Tennessee is ridiculous as well. It really screws west Tennessee as the green up in the bottoms is way more than those in the mountains of East Tennessee. End of may is ridiculous

1.) I was told when I started hunting in Coosa county that, if I wanted turkeys, I better feed them because I could bet my neighbor was. 2.) I have taken all my feeders out of the woods with no intention of putting them back. 3.) I have cell cameras on my property and, if they outlaw them, I will be an outlaw. I don't use them to hunt. Twice, I've been away from the property and received photos of trespassers. Both times, the photos allowed us to identify the person. 4.) When you are on property you own and hear shots on your side of the property line, you won't see so much humor in the line-jumper comments.

Moving the season back on a unproven theory was the definition of throwing sh! At the wall to see if it sticks. Between Chamberlain and the social media attention whores we’ve taken a beating as turkey hunters in lost opportunities
^^ I always been afraid to try it - others seem to joke about it! I did it once decades ago - but i ran right back across the line as soon as i crossed it cause it didnt feel right! Its same as stealing to me! Dad taught me bettr

Corn and cell cameras have really hurt fair chase hunting. I don't have turkeys so I can't say if they come running to a corn feeder. But I bet if they do the temptation to keep the feeders running would be too much for many to bear.
I went a listened Saturday and Sunday morning and heard exactly zero gobbles. Anyone have any turkey land they would consider leasing?
