Practically impossible. I think thats why He said it that way, to show that no matter what we cannot live up to the standard He requires and without the blood of Jesus forgiving our sin we would all be toast.

So why would you hold another person to a standard that God doesn’t hold them to? Or that you don’t hold for yourself?

Edited to say: I did a bad job communicating what I was trying to say. The standard doesn’t change. But it seems like you are expecting a person to uphold that standard that you said Jesus himself was saying they couldn’t. Make sense? Clear as mud? 😂

The bottom line is scripture says all of humanity falls short of the standards God set because of the sin that lives in every one of us because the first human Adam sinned against God and all mankind is descended from Adam and that sin was passed to all. The standards that God has given us to live by in the Old Testament and New Testament were given for one reason- to prove to ourselves that we need a Savior to pay the price God set for breaking those standards which is death, physical and spiritual death. Its not that God needs to be convinced we are sinners, He already knows we are, its that through out history we need to be convinced we are sinners and seek the Savior Jesus. Why else would God set standards He knows we can’t keep? So we can figure out for ourselves that we can’t keep them. The Pharisees in the New Testament are a perfect example, they ran themselves crazy trying to keep the law and I image some came close to keeping it but it didn’t matter because they may have followed the rules to a t but God said He didn’t know them because He didn’t have their hearts. Kinda like the “rules without relationship brings rebellion” saying.
