To me retirement means no longer working for money, or at least not having to. And no kids to raise.
I could stop working if I wanted to. But I've got 10 more years of raising a kid. I recon I'll be near 70 when she's 18.
Hell, retirement is a pipe dream for me. She landed in my lap when I was 8 months from retiring in the fire service.
Shot my retirement plans all to hell. But I wouldn't bad mouth it for nothing. It is what it is.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

I texted my former engineering supervisor the other day. He and I are friends. Me: "I really miss the feeling of accomplishment that comes from working for a living..." Him: "Really!" Me: "Just kidding "

It is doing what you like. I got a lot of little piddling jobs going all the time. Right now I am in Pigeon forge waiting on the wife to get up so I can see if there is anything I need at the knife works or Buds gun shop. After that I shall rest and let her shop.

My job of 35 years came with levels of stress. Used to wake up in the middle of the night, with my brain going 100mph thinking about work. Never realized how much it affected me until it wasn't my problem anymore. Miss the guys at work, but not my job.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

The only stress I got is catching some more crappie next week for a big fish fry coming up. Then Turkey season opens. I don't draw a lot of money except social security. I enjoy trapping and working on land for people. Having money in my pocket don't ever hurt my feelings. It's hard for me to get out 401k unless I am buying land or equipment

I work on my land everyday. For me there is nothing more satisfying than creating wildlife habitat. I burn, spray, and disc at times. Right now Im working on eliminating a lot marshall rye All the critters come to my little piece of heaven. Gopher tortoises, deer, turkey, I've even saw a few quail. I spent years in a job I despised. This is way better.

I took some out of mine for the first time when we bought this house down here, but thankfully it was only a little bit.

I’ve been retired 11 years. Biggest problem I have each day is decided what fun thing to do that day!

Just wait until you retire, then you will be under new management, the wife.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I am fortunate that I like what I do and the clients I work with. No rush to retire.

Retired since November and busier than I’ve ever been. I am getting to do a few land projects but I had envisioned getting more done. It is nice that I can start my day when I want and finish the same way.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.
