Kids (young adults) jump at the first shiny thing they see. Family land is not just about $, if you’re not in this situation you may not understand. A parent may move off and start a career in another state but their children might like to move back one day. If it’s sold or divided up, there might not be a place to come back to. Passing land down to heirs is hard in a lot of ways, but selling it is the short sided, narcissistic way to handle it, imo.

Some land is not meant to be sold imo, “value” doesn’t factor into it.
