Does anyone here have security cameras at their home? I am gone a lot due to work and there's been several break-ins in the area in recent months. I thought about getting a couple of cameras where I could check on things when I'm at work and with a DVR to record anything that may happen - but I dont know much about them or even if its worth the money and effort.

I don't have any installed but WOOT had some decent deals in the last day or 2. I bought one of their 4 camera setups a good while back but it's going in the house I build in the Spring.

With today's technology, there probably are home security systems you can link with your smart phone or other device.

You can, a buddy has one on the register at his restaraunt and he watches his employees while he's hunting

I have a couple outdoor Foscam camera's that work great and are an affordable solution. I have the app where I can see my camera's live feed from my cellphone or any computer anywhere and it allow's you to receive an alert on your phone if the camera senses motion. Also , I bought the "Blue Iris" software package and installed on my desktop that allows you to record with motion detect 24/7 and it has worked perfectly for over a year. I bought the camera's on sale for around $ 85 each and the software was around $40. You will need to know a little about changing network settings on your router and setting up i.p. address's but Foscam does provide tech support. I ran ethernet cable instead of using wireless because I did not want to worry about signal loss ,but the wireless will work if your router is close enough. http://foscam.us/

Keep an eye open watching WOOT, Bens Outlet, 1 Sale a Day, etc. They are always running specials on security camera package deals and havae great prices on them.

Get in touch with Frontpoint Security. They offer wireless systems with video. You get alerts when they happen and can monitor your house from anywhere if you have a smart phone or computer access.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts,hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!
