Thinking about getting one, was looking at a Pedersoli Mississippi Rolling Block in 38-55 (and some of the other popular brands) don't believe i want a rifle in 45-70, i already have 2 Rifles in that Caliber, so I'd like something different.

I have a Browning B78 in .257 Wby Mag super accurate rifle. Though; it is actually falling block rifle.

Nice, those octagon barreled B78s are neat. Got one that's been rebarreled to 280 I bought from a member here. It's a good shooting rifle, and really pretty.

Speaking of 38-55, I was quite surprised to see Winchester still chambers the 94 in it. Always wanted a 38-55.

I have a custom RB in a heavy bbl target. Also a very nice original RB in 43 Spanish.

+ to the 45-70 - you can load it very light/little/no recoil with the heavy bbl (or even std bbl).

- to the 43 Spanish. Cases are expensive, or labor intensive to make yourself (using 348 Win cases - also expensive).

+ for both. I cast lead bullets, and reload. Really the ONLY way for the 43. And I wouldn't have any desire to shoot even Trapdoor factory jacketed bullets in my RB. Same with the Trapdoor I have.

For an idea of load, I am pushing ~400 grn lead bullet ~1320-1350 fps out of all three of the above rifles. You can almost see it fly to the target!

Buddy had a Browning 45-70 with a tang sight on it. Really fun to shoot at the range and would stomp a deer.

Show and tell. This one is a 1974 that had been rebarrelled to 280 Rem. No telling what the original chamber was. I'd love to find one in 6mm Rem for a decent price. I may be incorrect, but I believe the bicentennial edition was the only one with octagonal barrel, made one year only in 76.

Does it count if I helped a guy load 45-90 and 45-120?

Some fine wood on that one! Mine has a ton of little dings in the stocks. I've thought about refinishing it, but then I'd probably never hunt with it again.

Long story about finding this rifle; the stock has had the high gloss lacquer finish professionally removed, new pad installed and oil finished.
