You can find a lot of refrigerator parts on ebay. The guy that delivered our new fridge and took away the old one was a private contractor/installer for Lowes. He took a look at our old fridge and said, "I'll get the good parts off it and sell them on ebay".
Sure enough, just about every part you would need to build a new fridge from scratch for cheap is on ebay. I had a buddy at one of our power plants and what he did for a side gig was buy the old appliances that everyone has hauled off back to Lowes when they bring you a new one. He takes them and fixes them and has a little shop at a crossroads in southern Mississippi and re-sells them there. H made so much money doing it, he retired from the company with his pension and now does it as a retirement gig.
