I want a new 55ish hp tractor. I’m fairly certain I’ll go with Kubota. Anyone have a dealer they like or know who has the best pricing normally? What do you all think about R1 vs R4 tires. We have a 43hp older Deere with R4. I hate those small skid steer tire on the front and the back seem very bouncy. They don’t tear up the ground as much but I’m leaning towards Ag tires. I’d like the HST as well. I just like it especially for bucket work.

I prefer ag tires but I am careful when traveling over our yard, especially when recent rain and also careful turning, otherwise for my needs, ag is the way to go.

Not sure how quick Kubota will ditch the environmental crap on their current tractors but if it looks like it will be gone by this time next year I would wait it out if at all possible!

Bought a 23’ mx5400 from irby in Vincent last summer. R4 tires, HST, FEL, 4wd. Prep’d and planted 12 fields last fall and I wouldn’t change anything about it.

Never drove a tractor with them, but the new R14 look to be a decent compromise.

I agree with Kubota in that size range, but will mention that there is very little price difference between the MX5400 and the MX6000, but almost 10 horsepower difference.

The tires would be according to what kind of work youll be doing. If youre gona keep it in the field, go with ag. If youre gona turn ground any get 3 rib front tires. I use the r14 in yards, theyre better for that, dont tear up the yard as bad. If youre turning ground with those loader front tires theyll try to pull you up out of the furough. Its all about what you plan to do with the tractor. Thy all have a purpose

I wish Kubota used a different pedal set up on their HST's. My big feet fumble around with them. I end up pulling UP against the forward peddle to go in reverse but that will wear your ankle out after a while. JD has that part right. Pedals side by side.

I am liking the mahindra since there is no regin.
And it pick up a little
More in its class from what I’ve seen on my initial looks.
But. I’ve looked at mahindra and there’s a tyo or something like that I’ve look
At I have a kubota 3901 and it don’t pick up nothing.

I bought a 4802 last year and been happy with it. I do wish I would have looked and the MX harder, but the 5400 was a bit more money and I had already pushed the budget the wife gave me way to far.

I didn't check everywhere. I seems it takes an act of God to get a price quote on anything with an engine any more. The tractor places in Florida were way higher what I could find in Alabama. Of the few places I got a quote from, Beshear's in Opalaka was the cheapest. It was $3500 cheaper than the local Florida Kubota dealers. So the wife and I made a weekend out of it.

I bought a new 5660 Kubota last year it is the best piece of equipment I ever owned. And I plant in the swamp

I’ll second the M5660SU. Shuttle shift instead of HST pedals. When I was shopping the prices were almost identical after adding rear remotes etc. I have R1 tires and they’ll eat your yard up.

Nice advice from all. I have considered Mahindra but haven’t looked seriously at them in awhile. I stopped in Clanton today and the R4 tires that they have look like what I want. The old R4s on our 06 Deere aren’t nearly that aggressive. I do love the hst pedals on the Deere and the bucket control is a more ergonomic as well. Guess I’ll go drive a few and see. I’m gonna research when they may droop the environmental crap. I’d bet that would come soon.

I talk to people about tractors quite a bit. I hear people complain about mahindra than any other, by far. I have seen some who really liked theirs. But alot who wouldnt take one if you give it to them.

i have a smaller 4330?? hst and a m9000 shuttle. i prefer the shuttle.

Here’s the most important factor in your decision, which dealer has the best parts/service department ? Driving 250 miles to save $500 will eat your lunch when it has to go in for service. If their service department is slow you may wait weeks or months to get your machine back.

I bought a M6060 from Bondys kubota in dothan and have been really happy with it and the service they have provided. They had the best price of anyone within 2 hours of me. I would go with the R1 tires that is what I have and I have not had a real problem with them tearing my yard up if I'm careful on my end.

any color but most importantly, if it has any emissions crap on it you better have a good warranty

South Alabama Kubota in Monroeville has some good people. Very nice guy that runs it. We have done quite a bit of business with them through the years and have always been very fair with their prices and easy to deal with. We have several implements from them and they let us use brand new trailers to haul them to the camp and told us just to return the trailer when we made another trip to town. We’ve gotten know those guys pretty good. They will also have great deals on good used equipment from time to time. Give em a call.

X2 for South Al. Kubota, bent over backwards to help our Disaster Relief team when they did not have to, I will drive by several dealerships to buy what I can from them

Bought a new Kubota from Capital Tractor in Montgomery last year. Their initial quote was higher than the quotes I got from the dealers in Clanton and Opelika, however they did price match the lower quote once I had it in hand. I went with Capital Tractor mainly because of location for service.
