I put money in a 401k almost 30yrs ago for a year or two. What happened to that money? Do any of yall know a legit way to find out about it? Some stuff pops up on the interweb but i dont want to start putting my personal info out there willy nilly.

I do know there's a website for unclaimed money. I have a friend that got $500 back from it. I'll find out.

Interesting. Do you know what company the plan was with? I’m no expert, but it should still be there and depending on how much you put in there and what it was invested in, it should be a good chunk of change.

They sold out a few years ago. What ive read is the money dont just disappear but it can be hard to find.

Seems like you could contact them and find it if you knew who managed it.

Its not unclaimed property, just doesn’t know where it is, I believe you are correct. I didntshow anythingnon the site. My pawpaw did have something on there, less than $100. Hes been dead 35yrs. He did leave everything to me and my sister, so i guess its half mine. Im gona contact my old boss there and see if i can figure anything out

I just plugged my information on that site and started the process for some lost money from my deceased son and deceased mother. Both amounts appear to be over $100 so it will at least be worth the time.
It will be interesting to see how it goes.

So. My wife and I both have over 100. This is legit ? To claim.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....
