In our worst year, I went through 21 to keep three. For us, it had settled in the last few years. We're a small shop. We don't have the luxury of overstaffing to compensate for a lot of absenteeism. We had the one quit. Another got caught DUI and is off paying his debt to society for the next few weeks. We need some help.
I had one come to the office and ask for a raise. I asked him if a 28% raise would work. He was all fired up about that. So I told him to be at work all the time he was scheduled and his pay would increase 28%. His mood changed again. Unfortunately, you can't fire someone like that because the next guy in line is usually worse.
I could go on and on about it. Trying to keep employees is the most aggravating thing in the business world.
People will complain about the robots taking all the jobs.
Since 2018, we've gone from one robot to nine.
