I'm so old, although I can't remember who, but I remember a player being ineligible because he signed his name with an agent on a napkin in a restaurant, and Bo Jackson missing his Sr year of baseball because the Tampa Bay Bucs flew him down there to check out the facilities and told him it was cleared through the NCAA. The problem was that it wasn't cleared so he was ruled ineligible. How the NCAA has become a joke of an institution, my oh my.
Oates was not smart to play him until a final ruling for two reasons. 1. the risk of forfeiting the games they won and 2, even if they don't have to forfeit, you can bet he and UA will now have an NCAA target on them. They'll be pissed. Guess they are really going to be mad at Ole Miss since they lost that one in court and Chambliss gets another year. Yep, if this keeps on then AU will win the SEC by default.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

He signed with an agent on a napkin after the 92 national championship season. Technically that's not the reason he (and Alabama) got in hot water but it would have been had the second and more serious thing not happened. Langham signed and submitted an application to enter the 1993 NFL draft in April prior to the 1993 season rendering him ineligible but he changed his mind. Gene Stallings knew that had occurred but failed to report it to the SEC and NCAA and played him that fall. Bama was made to forfeit all 8 wins and a tie that he participated in.

Alabama beat the brakes off of Ole Miss the other day without Bediako. They have a point guard named Ilias Kamardine who played professionally for JDA Dijon Basket in France's Pro B league. He was the 2023 FIBA U20 Eurobasket MVP for that league.
