I have to set this up, so bear with me.
Having a discussion with someone the other day about politics and religion (yeah I know). My basic position is government has been established by God, and we should follow it's rules, as long as those rules don't go against God's law. As such, I cannot vote for a democrat because they think abortion is ok, and it's clearly against Gods law. So this person goes, what about birth control. God knows everyone before they are even created. It seemed like this person was likening using birth control to abortion, and went on to say he would meet all his unconceived children in heaven.
I just cannot get there. Just because you have sex doesn't mean conception occurs. I can't find a biblical basis for his position.
Thoughts? Did you know God created Birth Control ? Lets look at one example: The isolated mysterious Basque peoples have RH Negative Blood that could terminate a pregnancy by positive bloodtype invaders. This almost jeopardized my Theology degree at Baylor and I stand by it 😂🤣😂

Irishguys theory seems reasonable to me. I think it would be hard to disprove biblically, not interjecting our own opinion into it.

I ain't disagreeing with anyone's ideals not one bit. But we need to delve into why God struck Onan dead. He must have been pretty displeased with him. I also understand fully well this was an isolated incident. Because I did not want kids early. My wife stayed on the pill till I was 27. I more or less gave in to her and we have two daughters then she had her tubes tied. I did not fully understand love till we had kids . I thought we were in the right but I can't give you a scripture proving we were. He did not strike me dead so he was not as mad as me as he was Onan. That's all I got on this back to talking about trapping only for me

I also understand fully well this was an isolated incident. Because I did not want kids early. My wife stayed on the pill till I was 27. That's all I got on this back to talking about trapping only for me My reading of the Onan story is that he was punished for failing to provide offspring for his dead brother (levirate marriage) and not for masturbating/pulling out.

Interesting thread. I recall the Church preached about spilling seed etc…….
Also reminds me of May years ago a jr high friend’s dad died from lack of medical help. I think they were Mormons. I think he needed blood and don’t take any. If I recall he was not conscious and his wife made the decision.
