Federal Premium Barnes TSX hollow point 160g im guessing no pass thru ???? I'd about guarantee you it did. Never used them . The Hornaday inter-loc i use put meat/lungs and blood on the ground ,,, right there . From extensive use a ttsx leaves 2 holes most of the time. If they don’t you don’t have to bloodtrail Most people mess up not shooting them fast. You need to use a light for caliber bullet to get them to perform. If you do that they perform

I don't really understand why, but I have killed deer with at least 6 different rifle calibers from 6.5 creed up to 7 mag and have noticed that even with making a good shot, sometimes the deer just doesn't bleed much. Or it takes up to 50 yards before they start bleeding good.

^^ Yep. I’ve slung 2” broadheads through em and had tennis ball size holes in both sides and it took a little distance to get em bleeding good. Some bleed immediately with the same shot. 99.9% of the time it has absolutely nothing to do with a given bullet, caliber or broadhead. There’s a guy in this forum that’s wrecking a lot of deer with a 22-250 at long ranges. It’s all about shot placement

Lots of time with lung shot deer, they bleed down into the chest cavity and what you are initially seeing on the trail beyond the hit site, is blood being aspirated from the nose and mouth. Once the chest cavity starts to fill with blood (doesnt take long), it begins pouring out of the exit wound or in the case with a broadhead, entrance and exit wounds, you'll start seeing it on both sides of the trail.
Killed a good 8 point a couple weeks ago. chunk of lung at the hit site about half the size of your thumb. No blood at all for the next 10-15 yds or so. At about the 15 yd mark, started leaking pretty good. At 30 yards it looked like a scene from axe murder, or chainsaw massacre, and he was laying in the middle of it all.

Similar with a 7 point my son got last week with a lung shot with entrance and exit about the same level mid-deer, first blood we found was 20 yards from the shot, then it was really spotty blood for another 20-30 yards until a dead deer. When we flipped him up onto the truck, started pouring out blood from the exit wound. My son made the good point, that it may seem like the first blood was really far away from the point of the shot, but in truth the deer covered that ground in mere seconds. Really helps to pay attention after the shot and take landmarks where the deer runs, because you may not find blood for a while. Life experience tells me that you've got to look hard and long for a deer after you take a shot. It helps to have more eyes looking, too.

I lost(?) A good 9 that I shot with my ML. Early, but I could see him well. He was about 90 yards and quartering away. When it went off, I felt that the shot was a little far forward for the angle he was standing. I looked off and on for 3 days, and every time I've been up there since. I should have called someone with a dog, but I had off and on convinced myself that I missed. He was real regular, but he hasn't shown back up on camera since. Probably would have been my biggest buck. It will haunt me for a while.

I did that with a doe, 257wthby 120 gr partitions. My buddy was hunting close by and swore I’d missed. Didn’t sound like the shot connected. Told him I’d isn’t miss that easy of a shot 100 yards wide open hardwoods
Hit her mid chest boiler room and no blood for 60-70 yards then it was spraying out. Last time I hunted with partitions. Switched to 120 gr hollow points thyvdoe stumbled 3 yards and fell over dead. Switched to 115 gr BT and didn’t look back. Bullet design matters. Those rib bones are not tough.

Typical 7mag…buddy no longer shoots it due to that happening esp at close distance So do you own a 7 mag and this happens regularly ? Or are you coming to a conclusion because you heard so and so talking....

Shot a buck and found him 80 yards away. Blew his heart out and he still ran 80 yards, absolutely no blood until I found him. He was laying in a pool of it. 30-06 180 grain...
