Oh yea - my bullet hole on 25 yd shot was small like a pensile and do not remember an exit. I hear really close 40 yards and in bullets do not always act right
60 yards should do good i would think

I always shoot them IN the shoulder with a gun. Especially if using Barnes. I want to hit some bone.

Man good deal. We looked for an hour last night and I went back today to look and spent another hour + looking for a buck Janet’s son shot at yesterday. No blood anywhere. Deer was about 100 yards and quartering away going down an incline at the back of the plot. It drops off very steep where he was headed so I’m thinking he shot over the deer. He then proceeded to drop 2 does in their tracks in the plot. Tikka .308 sho did the trick on the does tho.

Never give up! Good Deer. I think we forget there are so many variables with every shot whether it's guns or bows that can cause great blood trails and no blood trails

Those were my exact words when I found him- I’m shooting them in the shoulder every time from now on with a rifle. I already know this but I’ve gotten locked into the bowhunting mindset where you want to avoid the shoulder.

You mean you did that with a 7 mag?! So it’s not just the creeds that do it? 😁
Congrats. I never give up. If you’re confident in your ability to shoot, the deer is dead more often than not. They don’t all do the textbook bleed out while running. Been a lot of deer left to rot because of it. Good for you for staying on it. No blood trail with barnes ttsx in 308 either
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Typical 7mag…buddy no longer shoots it due to that happening esp at close distance Please don’t tell my 7 mag this is typical. It doesn’t realize this yet 7 mag is usually death on a cracker

That was smart to hav dad walk out to spot! Congrata - great deer
Big deer i shot at 25-30 yds with 270 130 grain corlock - not drop of blood - did not run over 60 - perfect shot. I often feel i miss mine. Of the 6-7 dog tracks i hav done - all short tracks except first one on long bow shot The guy i use dont hav bunch dogs that gonna bay a deer either - sometimes he only brings one I’ve had the same issue right after I bought my first 270, I moved up to 150 grains and haven’t had any issues

Had that happen to me year before last shooting my 7mm-08 with a 120 grain ttsx. All I found was some hair on the ground behind where I shot the buck at. Called a good friend that had a dog and 50 yards later we found him and never did see a drop of blood and couldn't even tell where I hit him at until I cleaned him the next day.
