Had a lot of great experiences there over the years. In the early 90s, I’d go to BHM on business twice a month. My routine was always the same. I’d stop at the Johnny Rays just down from Mark’s for lunch then make a pass through Mark’s. Never had a bad experience.

I did get an opportunity to buy one of those rifles once, but I passed. The sales manager then made a call and sold it.

I really haven't had anyone treat me poorly in there either. I am certainly not a big $ spender either. They sent out an email saying they were making some changes and putting in a new POS system. So that all makes sense. I sort of liked the old way, you could buy ammo but all the CC company sees is sporting goods or something.

I ordered a pair of camo Rocky hunting boots from there years ago. Somehow the order got lost. I went in to check on the order and Mark happened to be the one to wait on me and figured out the order had been lost. He asked me what size I wore. I told him. He said they run a little small and I may need a half size bigger. He picked up the phone and called the manufacturer, distributor, or whoever, and ordered about 4 different camo patterns, two sizes in each pattern. He had them shipped overnight and had me come back down to see which size fit best and which pattern I wanted. He then sold them to me at his cost. Pretty stand up of him.

One would assume you are on that list Whether he is or not, that's a great place to be. I have two local gun stores who know me by name, and will save stuff for me. It's a good seat to be in, for me and for them. I never buy a gun without giving them first option, unless it's used from Gunbroker. I try to make sure that I don't miss a week going in, talking to them, looking at inventory, etc. unless I am out of state. Behavior like this pays off. Lots of times, I walk in and someone invites me into the back room for an ammo deal, or to show me a used gun that didn't make it to the floor yet.

I asked him how he felt about one of the many gun bans they were throwing around at the time. He said if they banned guns he’d just sell tires.

live in Central Ms. and I have read about them on here a lot and my wife home office is in Bimingham and I went with her on some meetings a few years back and wanted to go and check it out, really nice store, no one ask if they could help me and I was okay with that. I ask one question from a older guy in the fishing section which he answered and he was very helpful but a young guy mocked his answer!

Do yall remember Rustys sporting goods ? They were up the road a ways back when Marks first opened Yes, my dad bought my first rifle there. Mine too brother. Ruger M77 in .270. Got it for Christmas in 1981 when I was 12 years old. Life changing moment for a young man.

I know everyone at Marks by name. They have always been amazing to me but I do spend and have always spent a lot of money there. Not trying to defend anyone’s actions if they didn’t give good service but, I can only imagine they have a LOT of people come in and waste their time just BS-ing about stuff. They really are busy and move a lot of product so they do have a job to do. Never and excuse to be rude to anyone but since I have been going there since I was a little boy and I am now 56, I have been there a lot and they know that I am and will spend money there.
The one thing I Really like about Marks is I consider myself a firearms expert and yet my knowledge is limited on what those guys know about when it comes to guns, scopes, clothes, fishing, and almost everything outdoors and they have specialist in every category to help.
Hunting brings out the worst in people.

Maybe the new owners will do something about their snooty employees that can’t be bothered to assist a customer unless it’s one of their buddies or they look like a doctor or lawyer Have heard that a lot, but never experienced it myself. I just walk in wearing my going to Jack’s clothes. Never have gotten side eye or cold shoulder I don’t dress like a homeless person, but nothing I wear could be considered fancy or expensive
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...
