Brings back so many memories of when my Dad and Granddaddy would take me fishing.

I love a Zebco 33. I have several that I use here at the house. Nothing wrong with them at all. I catch just as many fish on them as I have an open face bait caster.

They must be older ones. I bought my nephew one a couple years ago and it was such a piece of junk it was useless. Never worked even once. Threw it away and told him he’d have to learn to use a spinning rig.

Anybody worth their salt started out with a Zebco 33 and probably still has one.

My grandfather was known to have ordered the first zebco 33 in Baldwin County. He was laughed at by his bass buddies until they saw him use it.

Have owned a couple of Zebco 33s and love the song. But the first reel and rod combo that was really mine was a Zebco 202. Had used different fishing rods and reels that were my Dad's and Granddaddy's but the first one that was mine was when Granddaddy gave me and my younger brother the Zebco 202 combo for Christmas. He had bought them from Sears. Were the best that he could afford.

On a side note, you can replace the 2 bushings in a 33 with bearings and make it really smooth.
