Im a savage guy. I would buy a tan or camo Axis II with a short heavy threaded barrel and a accutrigger and put a trijicon or leupold illumiated dot scope on it. You can do that for a little over $1000 and i guarantee you wont be sorry. Probably $1200 for the complete gun, scope, mounts and a nice sling. Ive got a bunch of these guns and theyre all shooters. You could spend more but why would you?

You could spend more but why would you? I really like the new Axis II Pro and the new 110s. I sighted an Axis II pro in 25-06 for my buddy’s grandson. I was impressed with that little rifle. I’ve been looking at the Axis II pro in 6ARC.

Tikka t3x lite stainless with Sportsmatch to84 or UM rings with a SWFA 3-9x42 or 3-15x42 for a bombproof setup. Load it up with 162 grain eldm and kill stuff from a crazy long ways.

The new XBolts are pretty spiffy. I mounted scopes and sighted in 2 Xbolts last week. Both had the beautiful wood stock. One in 270 and one in 6.5 Creedmoor. Both rifles shot sub moa groups at 100yds right out the box with the ELDX ammo. I really like that push button bolt release and I was surprised with the trigger. I’ll be honest if I would have shot them before I bought my Tikka, I wouldn’t be a Tikka owner.

take him to a store with great brand variety, and let him try them on; see which one fits the best him with a heavy jacket on ... one or two will sing to him ...
