I’d think it matters more how much area you have in plots, relative to the total property, the surrounding landscape, and what you are going to have planted. Generally, about 1-5% of acreage in plots is pretty reasonable. We’ve generally only been allowed about 1%, one acre plot per hundred acres, by property owners on timberland leases. I wouldn’t want too many plots side by side by side but I’d also rather have more 1/2 to 1.5ac plots spread over the average property than I would the same acreage in 5+ acre plots.
