Back on the power line in Marengo County. Beautiful morning. Had a big six on the camera here yesterday. Hoping he’ll repeat.

Same. Seen 5 does. Heard the loudest grunting I’ve heard in years up on the hardwood hillside. Too many trees to see what it was. I had a 7pt in the plot here at 530. Had a shooter on cam 300 yards behind me at 718 but wind was completely wrong so didn’t sit there and haven’t had a buck on that cam in 2 weeks. 🙄

So far I’ve seen four antlerless deer and the big six. He didn’t present a good shot so I’m hoping he will show up again

Hunting a small place in Lauderdale, nice 2 year old 8 came by about 7:00. He needs a couple more years. It’s an amazingly beautiful morning, thank you Lord for it!

Passed on a really, really good buck this afternoon. Bigger than anything I have killed in a few years. I never picked my gun up while he lingered for 15 minutes at 70 yards. I know it is probably foolish but I "saved" him for my grandson. Something interesting...he and a smaller buck were with a hot doe. It has been nearly eight weeks since I saw the first rut activity of a buck this season chasing a doe. That's a long rut cycle over here in West Alabama.
