Some folks just like to be unhappy and can't appreciate something for what it is. I thought it was a great movie for today's times.

I’ve not watched it or the first one. Tom Cruise is weird.

Movies like that typically aren't much on character development. I much prefer series like Breaking bad or Lonesome Dove. Those types of shows are much better at character development than CGI action movies like Mission Impossible, Star Wars, Top Gun, etc...

I like Tom Cruise in most movies, even though he basically plays "Tom Cruise" in every movie, he still has a way of making you want to be whatever character he plays in that particular movie and that is a skill that a lot of actors don't have.

It is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Funniest part of the movie is at the beginning when he crashes the speed record jet and walks into the restaurant, asks where he is and the little kid replies “Earth!”

It’s a great story line and if you ever watch something showing how they trained for it and how they filmed it, it’s impressive.

Movies are for entertainment, and I agree with Irishguy that CGI is too prevalent in today's movies. I don't enjoy most of the superhero movies because it's all about the CGI, not actors performance or characters.

But sometimes you have to suspend belief and common sense and just enjoy the entertainment. There's nothing at all sensible about Field of Dreams, but it's a great movie. Clint Eastwood's character was a ghost in a few of his best movies.

Maverick brought me back to my younger days and I absolutely enjoyed the movie as much if not more than Top Gun.

It is hard for me to say this, but it was a good, watchable movie. The reason it is hard for me to say is that I don't like Tom Cruise, or the cult he is in, and for the most part just pass on his movies.

This was my thought.

I thought it was a good movie. Sure liked seeing all the pilots get humbled and do pushups!
