I have heard the deeper into Wayne National Forest you go the better. A lot of out of towners come and hunt right off the roads.


It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

great deer. Hope to see something like that on our trip. Did you use a climber or lock on? We are trying to travel as light as we can and climbers are better for moveing around, but Im concerned about finding trees that we can climb. Im sure I will miss the pine trees and have to climb some sort of hardwood, just dont know till we get there.

update on trip:

Great time. my son got a 6 pt. I got skunked. But it was worth all the effort for him to get his first bow kill buck. Overall the rut in Ohio was over where we hunted. Saw many single does and not one following buck the entire time. Saw several large bucks an night on road but none during the day in the woods. The woods were much different than south Alabama, but it was an adventure. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Horse,I suggest you carry a popup and several loc ons. Believe it or not its hard to find a climbable tree up North.
