you got insanely lucky. and you might wind up losing the deer and getting a ticket because you shot it at night. but I would have done the same thing as opposed to letting it get away.
But is is better to be lucky than good any day of the week. Congrats on a great buck The difference between me shooting it and somebody with a tracking dog shooting it is what? There's not one. But I do not think that is legal either Kinda reads like you shot a very much alive deer at the end of a beam of light that had not been fatally wounded to begin with. If a game warden wanted to be a peckerhead he could go after you. Probably wouldn't have posted that detail on the internet.
