I have 20+ coaching HS athletics but i tend to lean on the side of caution posting my opinions on this site because we have a few ASSHATS on here who know it all anyway. I have not always agreed with the AHSAA but they got this one right after Memaw was going to pay kids to go to private schools and make them immediately eligible. The AHSAA said no in our bylaws you have to set a year and they put it into court. Now we have a state bill on the floor with lawsuits to come by private schools and guess where the politician's kids go to school. Check out Ainsworth's FB posts its easy to understand. My team had to play a Back to Back state championship team and we had no business on the field with them. There are no perfect answers but the plan was simple. Put the private schools in their own league, Let them sue us, they leave the AHSAA and create their own League. They are not our problem and the politicians can control them (where their kids go t school). Pretty simple effective plan if you ask me. Meemaw isn’t paying anybody shit for going to private schools. They are getting a percentage of the money owed to them for the education of their child.

City limits and school zones are 2 different things They are and they aren't. Students can't attend the local city school system unless student lives in the city limits (city school zone) or pays tuition (sounds sorta like a private school, doesn't it?). Live outside of the city limits (city school zone) but can't pay tuition and you excel in a sport? You can get a "scholarship" to attend said city school (again, sounds like a private school doesn't it?). Or, student can move into the city limits (city school zone) and be immediately eligible to play sports. City schools still have to abide by school zones! Here's an example of what I'm referring to...I have known this student and family for almost 20 years and worked with/for student's dad for most of that time Student attended a private school and excelled in a sport. Student's parents wanted to pull student out of the private school. The family lived in an area zoned for a public school (the public school student was zoned for wasn't known for success in student's chosen sport). Parents and student did not want to attend the public school for which they were zoned for. They approached the local city school officials (coach of the sport student would be playing and AD at the school). They were told how student could attend said city school without having to sit out a year since student wasn't attending public school they were zoned for. The family had to make a "bonafide" move to within the city limits for student to be immediately eligible. Parents "rented" a furnished house, owned by a local real estate company (owner has a close connection with a high ranking city school official), within the city limits and student was immediately eligible to play. The furnished house was "inspected" for living conditions (ensure that furniture was there and it was being "lived in"). Family never actually lived in the house...family residence was still in area outside of city limits, that was zoned for a public school. Family had to "live in" the city limits (city school zone) for a certain time (think it was a year) and the student would be eligible to play without having to live in the city limit (city school zone). Again, family never actually lived in the city limit (city school zone). The house that the family rented has been lived in by several families with students that excelled in athletics, including a couple that play or have played in the NFL and one currently on a high profile SEC team. Total BS. AHSAA will visit previous addresses. If there is so much as a coat hanger in that house out side the district. The player is not eligible. Call and ask Guntersville girls coach. They had to forfeit all their win last year. There is no pretend to move. Unless the players or team is terrible and not a game changer. Some of yall don’t have a clue.

I do have a clue. The AHSAA does not come out on every bonafide move or transfer. I know because I’ve had to go take pics and video of the move of kids I’ve coached just in case anything came up in the future. I know because some of my family members transferred schools. They only come if they are called and told it wasn’t a bonafide move. It has nothing to do with how good the team is or who the player is.

If it wasn't why would you be so interested in covering your ass if its perfectly legal? If somebody has to be given a house or parents have to rent an address then its crooked!

I'll be sure to tell the student's dad that this is total BS then since he's the one that told me how it transpired It happens all of the time, and the majority that I know of never got a college offer. It's amazing the amount of money parents spend to get little Johnny some playing time or what they (they being key) think will be a better look from scouts. I am not sure about the inspections of both locations, but I know they will do a ride up for a non game changer player. I think I know the family that you are referring to and it was pretty obvious that they were not living there full time, just so happens that they got caught. I can name more than 5 in the last few years that did the same thing and didn't get caught up with. With all of that said, I still agree with the new layout and I hope they bust anyone that is payed (any incentive) to make the "transition." In the cases that I know of, there was no return and the parents poured money into it themselves. This still takes away from other kids, but at least the school is not paying to bench them for little Johnny.

CrappieMan it’s not totally legal if they don’t actually move. I took the pics and video to show that they actually moved.
