Before you start, go read Part 1 if you want the entire story!
So I left off with Janet standing where he was standing at the shot, about 50 yards away. One pic is where he bucked and fell. She took a pic of the shooting house in the distance to give some perspective on just how far it was. Bottom pic yellow X is where he was at shot. White X is recovery site.

So she started down the firebreak and when she got to me I said “There he is!” And I wish I could have had a pic to save if the expression on her face. A mixture of shock, joy, relief, and gratitude all rolled into one! All she could muster out was “Oh. Sweet. Lord! He’s amazing!” No argument there! Then she closed her eyes and said a short personal silent prayer and then we just hugged tears were welling up in my eyes. It was just a release of emotion for being so proud of her, so excited for her and just the relief of the enormous stress I was under from the previous day. She actually was calming me down! She knew how I was feeling and it was just a beautiful moment! The sheer overwhelming realization of God answering a humble prayer from a simple little hunter in rural Dallas county will remain with me forever and I will be eternally grateful for that.
He’s an old warrior who has been roaming PL for 5 1/2 years if not longer. No telling how many does he’s bred and the offspring he’s produced. Although his travels on PL are complete, he will be gracing the wall of our trophy room and each time I look at him, I will remember this amazing weekend. So, without further delay, here he is:
7pts, 20.5” right beam, 19.5 left beam, 18.5 inside spread, and was run down to 155lbs live

I went back to PL Sunday to get the Ranger and my climbers and before pulling out, I knelt down in that muddy road going into unit 15, lifted my arms to heaven and just thanked God for his creation, blessing me with my wife, and just the opportunity to experience this amazing weekend. It was an experience I will cherish the rest of my days. And a big “Thank You” to each of you for letting me share the entire experience her on Aldeer. I hope it was worth the wait! God bless!
