Outdoor writer for Birmingham news and good dude died Friday night I think it was. Owned Boltons BBQ too.

Wow! He was something special for the Aldeer crowd back in the day. We gave him a lot of criticism but he kept it cool and respectful. RIP Mr. Bolton. Prayers Sent!

Sad news. Prayers lifted.

I didnt know him real well but got to sit and eat breakfast a few times with him at the busy bee and he was real fun to sit with. Had tons of stories and we would sit for couple hours at a time and it was always a great time.

20 years ago, I always looked forward to his articles in the state newspaper. Last of the outdoor writers employed by major newspapers. RIP.

He used to attend our church back when we went to Clear Branch United Methodist in Argo, AL. He and our pastor Tommy used to go fishing and drink beer together. He seemed like a pretty good dude.
I remember one of his series where he took a canoe, put it into the Cahaba River at the start of it near Trussville, AL. and took it all the way to the Gulf of America down in Mobile. If I remember that correctly. It was a great series of outdoor adventure in the Birmingham News. Of course that was back when the Birmingham News was a great paper owned and later ran by the Hansons.

The only two periods I ever went out of my way to buy newspapers were when he and Clem wrote. RIP.
