I don’t have dog in the race and really could care less. However the bigger issue is like you kinda make mention. Everyone gets a trophy mindset Life isn’t fair
The old adage of take my ball and I’m going home. Heck toughen up and get busy changing within to win
Long ago when I was in school they applied number of students into divisions by size of student body and let it ride. That was it Great athletes wereshufffled around then just as now, so what?

They still classify that way, they have just tried to separate the good schools from the bad now. I think the county schools that don’t get a lot of money from the school system will still experience the same results. Just at the hands of the city schools with more money instead of the private schools with more money.

I was told Mars Hill had to keep going up from 1A to 3A because they kept winning state titles

I was told Mars Hill had to keep going up from 1A to 3A because they kept winning state titles They did. But this new classification does away with all that. No more competitive balance and no more multiplier. Competitive Balance. Now those two word put together is about stupid ain’t it.

4 months. 4 months until graduation and I won’t have to ever discuss high school again. Can’t get here fast enough.

In the Class 2 Private Schools I think that every year, at least for a while you will have Madison Academy, Briarcliff, and perhaps Mars Hill Baptist from the North and the south region will be one of the Mobile area schools. The Central area still has a lot of the AISA schools and while some are good they just can't compete with the bigger private schools.
I tend to think that Briarcliff will dominate pretty much unless a school pops up like John Carrol. It's a bigger private school but they've been playing in the public division for so long I tend to forget about them. Briarcliff = Briarwood?? Ooops. I knew something didn't sound right when I posted it. I've corrected it, thanks, and apologies to Berret Trotter and anyone else associated with the school.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Brantley is going to need a bigger gas budget next year. You must not have looked at us. Closest region team is an hr and d the rest are a hard 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. Yup. The away games are going to be a royal pain in the ass.

Cleveland and JB Pennington. Both 2A 10 minutes away from each other. We will go right by there to go to Lamar county nearly 2 hours away Well I was wrong on directions we will not go by there on way to Lamar county but its still 10 min from us and Lamar county is actually 2 hours 21 minutes from us If you want to think about Blountsville and Cleveland getting screwed. I say look at poor old Douglas. Not sure what they are now but a few years ago they were a 5a. They pick up every Hispanic kid to Boaz, Guntersville, Albertville, and 75 South to the Blount county line. Best case scenario they should be nothing more than a 2a for an area that’s simply a crossing in the road.

I just took a quick glance at the reclassifications and noticed a few teams that are used to winning that are going to be toting more whippings than they are used to. No names given to protect the innocent.

We are in same boat with the mexicans, only a few play but most of our school is Mexican. Look at crossville they dont even have sports any more because of the Mexicans. I just dont understand why we have 2 school within 30 minutes of us and we dont play them we drive over 2 hours to play.

Douglas has only been to the playoffs 3 times since 1970.....I don't believe that the Hispanics are the issue here.

Has anyone seen how they are going to bracket the private school playoffs? In AA, 2 regions with 8 teams each… will more than 4 teams from each region go? If not that would only be 7 playoff games total. 4, 2, and 1.

Well, in case nobody noticed, Will Aintworthafuck Ainsworth is pissed about the new classifications. His kids go to private school.

We (Satsuma) were a large 4A before (not that it helped us in football) now we’re mid sized. We no longer play Cottage Hill, Mobile Christian, St Michael, or St Luke’s from the private school crowd. We also lost Escambia Co (Atmore), WS Neal and (thank the Lord) Jackson.
We picked up Williamson, Vigor, BC Rain, Citronelle and Leflore. Football may be harder for us but maybe we’ll do better in other sports, like Soccer maybe. We’ve played Vigor in soccer before and it was fun. They had good athletes (likely their 3rd and 4th stringers from football and basketball) but didn’t take it real seriously and the kids all had fun. Playing some of the private schools around was not nearly the same experience. St Paul’s and UMS Wright always brought their own officials.
As said above, I could see some of the former AISA schools going back. Glenwood, Lee Scott, Faith Academy, Mobile Christian and several others might look at it. Faith had a decent run in AHSAA while they had Jack French who was in my opinion one of the top ten football coaches ever in AL

I’m happy about it. Sounds like they finally realized “yeah, it might be a problem”. All our kids grew up here that play here. From Toybowl and park ball to HS.

This has been along time coming, hate it for the private schools the way they are spread out the regions. but it has made no sense under funded public schools playing against schools that can recruit (give scholarships for free tuition) and generally have more funds. We ran into a lot more in baseball but it was the same to some extent in football.
