I had a pile of deer on camera last night. Big groups. And a couple of 3yo bucks eating together. That says to me round one is over. Something has changed anyhow.

Ran into a decent racked buck walking in working a scrape. He saw me before I saw him. Haven’t seen scrape action around here since right before the new year. Second round must be getting underway. Maybe there is another one in here somewhere.

I’m driving home after my hunting buddy and I tagged out this morning. He shot his on a road crossing in which he saw 15-18 bucks on this stretch at several stand sites depending on the wind. I went to the back of the unit and hunted to where I had a one mile trip in and out. It sucked but was worth the work. Hunted hard and long hours. Deer were all over the place up there. I shot my buck at 10 am following a doe crossing a fifth doe thinning 200 yards out. It was so thick the only way I saw deer was through my binos. He shot his at 830 this morning. On the way out
Back to the side by side I saw two more bucks running a doe on the river banks. Unit 1 at cedar creek is thick as all get out but loaded with deer.

Biologist scored him a hair over 132” and estimated to be 5 1/2.

It’s all about the weather for sure. We saw more deer on Thursday afternoon than we saw on the hot three day hunt.
