Looking at getting my wife one for baseball season. Got a few questions. Are the tractor supply ones as good as the buddy heaters? Does anyone refill their 1 lb bottle from a 20 pound or bigger tank? If so what attachment? Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the green Mr Heater (Buddy) ? If so, they are the same thing as far as I know. I don’t recall seeing a TS branded one I now only use the Mr Heater Fuel Keg system. I find it safer, and easier. I’ve never had a problem with gas slow leaking but I use brass caps anyway when storing. If so what attachment? Thanks in advance Tractor Supply (and other sites) has a hose to connect a 15-20# tank to your heater. Screw those 1 pounder bottles.

Not knocking the adapter for $45 but I just bought a big buddy(2 1lb canister model)for about $20-25 dollars more than the one that will hold 1 canister, got mine at a local hardware store last week, used it the other night got approximately 8hrs run time on 2 canisters not the advertised 11hours on low setting

I have an attachment I believe came from sportsman guide that hooked from 20 pound bottles to one pound for refills. Pm me your number for pics if interested.

Not knocking the adapter for $45 but I just bought a big buddy(2 1lb canister model)for about $20-25 dollars more than the one that will hold 1 canister, got mine at a local hardware store last week, used it the other night got approximately 8hrs run time on 2 canisters not the advertised 11hours on low setting I bought it for an ALP propane generator for a specific runtime but I use it for all kinds of stuff now. You can usually find it cheaper. I don’t refill the green bottles anymore, the Mr Heater setup is superior in every way. I also don’t swap tanks, I have good tanks and want to keep them that way. About 80% of the time the swaps are crap. I just get them refilled. I do have a few blue rhinos if I need to swap for some reason.

I don't know about the Tractor Supply ones, but my smaller buddy heater have worked perfectly for ~5 seasons now. I don't use it very often, but it lights up quickly and easily every time that I have used it.
FYI: They make clear popup tents. That may be more helpful than a heater. Just have to be careful to prevent it from blowing away.

I have the single canister Mr. Buddy heater and just got a 5' hose to hook to a 20lb propane tank. works great and supposed to get 200 hrs of heat. Will just have to see. I also have the simple adapter to fill the 1 lb bottles from the 20 lb tanks and that works as well. There are lots of youtube videos on how to do refill them. I did weigh a brab=nd spanking new 1 lb cylinder that was full and it weighed 32 oz. canister sez 16 oz, so maybe that is the weight of the propane and not the cylinder. anyway, was able to get the empty cyclinder to weigh about the same after a few purges of the air pressure, so good to go.

I now use it in a shooting house and a camper. It’s probably 10yo and works like new. I did have another one that I left in a shooting house all season and dirt dinners ruined it.

Never would have made it through baseball season when my son was playing without a buddy heater. No idea who thinks it’s a good idea to be playing baseball tournaments in February. I hear ya, I've spent some mighty cold days at baseball fields with my son . Now I have a Grandson that's "baseball crazy". If he can stand to play in cold , I can stand to watch, Grandma can too.

We bought one of the Ozark Trail ones from Walmart when we were in Alaska in 2024, worked great! we actually liked it so much we squeezed it in our gear bags and brought it home.

All it takes is one fitting to refill the small cans. I did it a few times. It does work but i felt like they never really got full. I never weighed one though. I also had to have a 20lb tank that was full or close to full to get it to work. I only did it a few times so its possible i wasnt oing it the best way or something. I watched a youtube video and did it like that.

Regular buddy heater good. Little buddy heater stopped working. Didn’t really heat that much. Need to do some maintenance to it. I prefer the buddy heater you can connect to 20 or 30 pound propane tank
