I was climbing a tree on Crowe Mt one time for an afternoon hunt......I had just gotten up in the tree and my gun was still on the ground attached to a rope when I looked out in the cutover and there was a buck slipping through......I started pulling rope fast.....Finally got my gun in my hand and shot him.....Never even untied the rope..... grin
Ill tell you the situation. He was 40yds from me, 30ft or so in elevation down hill in a little food plot in a funnel. Theres a 3-4acre thicket of wild bradford pear trees and privet right behind him. Thers a house within 400-500yds in about every direction. Also 100acre ag field and 100acres of hardwoods right there. I drove my mule to the shooting house and parked right beside it. From where hes laying, you cant see the bottom of the shooting house because of brush. I crawled in the shooting house, cut on the heater, then texted my brother, "you seeing anything". Right then a little doe walked out and started eating corn. I assume i ran her off getting in there. I opened the window to take a pic of the doe to send my brother. The buck stepped into the frame as i was trying to take the picture. I had literally been in the shooting house 2min. We hunt our property. Its pretty residential. Youre always within 400-500yds of a house. Alot of deer, not many great deer but some. Ive passed several bigger deer in the past but i wanted to kill a deer and this one was almost the best available on this particular property, unless one weve never seen before just happens through. I appreciate all the congrats and happy tboughts. Glad yall experienced it with me. My son asked me if he could come help me load it. That was a blessing too.
