20-30 years ago there was a company (in Montgomery?) that specialized in the Ruger 20/22 rifle and the MKII pistol. I shot them both, and they were just right. The 10/22, at any rate, had an external "shroud" the whole length of the barrel, rather than a can on the end. Pretty sure the pistol used the same technology.
