I enjoy his shows as much as any out there. Tree stand PSA from him. I’ve got some in bad shape and multiple ones growing into the tree. It’s on my to-do list after season. Ladders and old loc-ons. [video:youtube] https://youtube.com/shorts/OEIVCq7dX-A?si=66J0eYgZpc7YXDYB[/video]

I’ve got 2 plates, 2 rods and 12 screws in my neck and lower back from my fall back in 2009. Came within an eyelash of being paralyzed from the neck down. Figure I used up all my luck on that one. So, before my feet leave the ground now, I’m tethered to something when climbing with a climber or up to a loc-on.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I am very fortunate (as I’m sure a lot here are as well) to not ever have a tree stand accident… really hope my sons listen to what I have to teach them…

Ive never fell out of a loc on or a climbin stand..but i had a wooden ladder stand come off the tree when i was about 14..i climbed in that thing since i was like 8 years old and never an issue..i climbed up in it one evening and sit down..all was well..pulled my rifle up an laid it across my lap.. i noticed it was wobblin more than normal when i climbed in..i probly sit there 20 minutes an i got a little cold so i decided to stand up..and when i did..my butt come off the seat about 2inches and i felt the stand come away from the tree..which i didnt fully realise was happnin..rifle was in my hands cause it was across may lap..so i stood straight up fast which made it go forward away from the tree an we started fallin in towards the hill side..luckily it was facing a hill so the angle i was at..the stand was 16ft but when it started going forward i jumped out and only fell 10 ft or so..throwed my bar straight up the hill away from me an i landed on my feet..i was freaked out ..but..it widnt that bad of a fall..but..the stand fell on me an whacked me in the head..i dont really do wood ladder stands no more…all that was wrong was the two spikes that was drove in the tree through the braces pulled through cause squirrels hade chewed the wood up bad..we propped it bavk up with new boards an i hunted out of it till we couldn’t hunt that land no more..learned me that day

I quit climbing probably 15 years ago when I sprained an ankle getting out of a climber. I took it as sign from the almighty to stay my ass on the ground.

I had the feet of my climber fall out from under me when I got about 10 foot up one time. Because the neighboring property owners were jealous And took the pins out of my climber and moved them. Didnt know it until I got up the tree and my foot platform on the climber kicked over sideways. I was able to catch my feet and get it back up...... one of the scariest moments of my life.

Haven't hunted in even a ladder stand in 15 years. Sit on the ground and have had plenty of luck. A great friend was hunting our lease in a ladder about 4 years ago, fell climbing out at dark, and has been in a wheelchair every since.

I’ve done some dumb stuff and actually have jumped on a tree as one ladder stand was falling. Now, I use my harness all the time.

My neighbor put a new ladder stand up and had a safety harness. He takes safety very seriously. He went out before daylight and found what he thought was his stand. However, it was an old ladder stand that had been in the woods for years that he had never seen before. When he got to the top the whole stand collapsed just as he had finished connecting his safety harness. He got lucky. It’s another reason to clearly mark your stands and not leave derelict stands in the woods.

Been wearing a harness and a lifeline every time I get in a tree for 30 years. Made a promise to my wife and haven’t broken it. Make all the guys I hunt with do the same. Probably saved my life a few years ago when a cable on my lock on stand broke. There is NEVER a reason not to wear one.
Hunting brings out the worst in people.

I don't know how I survived some of the sketchy crap I've done while climbing back when I was younger. When I got married and had kids, all that changed. Always wore a full harness after that and sit on the ground when the spot is set up for it.

Use to lov climbers - as i get closer to 60 - i realized my dumb butt needs to be on the ground. Killed all my mounters and skulls from the ground. Climbers make it easier - but heck of a lot more dangerous. I liked that i could hunt any wind in the right tree. Been mainly on ground bout 6 years
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

I started using climbing stands fifty years ago when Baker came out with their stand. You literally had to hug the tree to climb and it had no seat. We had some close calls and are very fortunate we survived. I still I have my Baker stand and often show it to some of the younger guys.

Waddell got a bad name by putting his name on anything and everything whether it was a legit product or not Put your name on a package containing a turd and when the package is opened everyone knows it’s a turd and you’re name and reputation become the products you’re promoting
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

I started using a safety harness 20 years ago when my son started hunting out of a climbing stand. Putting on my harness is like putting on camo, and I never leave the ground without being tethered to the tree or a lifeline. Hunter safety systems hybrid harness are what I’ve used lately, they’re comfortable enough to walk and carry a stand with no problem. I don’t want to be no accident!

I quit climbing probably 15 years ago when I sprained an ankle getting out of a climber. I took it as sign from the almighty to stay my ass on the ground. He tells us in the Bible, Matthew 28:20, that "Lo, I am with you always", you start climbing and flying and you're on your own. Some folks will tell you that ain't what he meant, but you can't take risk with all them interpretations and whatnot.
Don't let life get in the way of living
