He wasn’t in my part of Evergreen lol. You would be surprised at the quality bucks that come from that area.

Really trying to move my club away from the 4/3 rule and into shooting by age class, but it’s hard for me to campaign for something I’m not good at myself. I said 4.5

I saw a pic last week of an absolute stud 4X4 with a big kicker that came off Skyline . We've had some dandies killed , but this one , even as a 4X4 was next level. I don't think I ever seen one that "carried" the mass better. The tines were as thick as most good bucks main beams. It had Canadian mass.
That one kinda hurts if you know what I mean.

That’s usually due to some stress factor, not necessarily age. I’ve seen it a good bit with deer that had an unusual amount or type of stress. One in particular had his best antlers at 3. He got EHD mid summer at 4 and was never the same. Got killed killed at 6.

Couldn’t agree more! I just wanna see the pictures, that’s the main reason I joined this thing years ago,too many wanna describe and talk about em but not show the pics. The thing is already dead

I have pictures of some beautiful naked women. I will not post them because I don't want people to see what Alabama produces.
Do you have permission to post them😂😂

I figure that one caused several sad faces on other hunters in that neck of the woods.

I would say 6.5, maybe more. He has that stubby front leg look they start getting at about 6.5. It appears he has a bit of a saggy chin too.

Thats awesome

They paying lot $$ year round for that. That happens naturally in kansas - not as naturally in bama. Kansas 150 at 4 is a common deer. Not at bama at 4 where i hunt. They doing something special besides aging

Pretty sure I’ve got a good idea of exactly where they were killed. When you’re managing 40,000 plus acres or so, you can protect and get enough of those young super stars/special deer into the older age classes where there can really express their genetic potential and show what Alabama is capable of producing. Even in pine trees and sandy soils.

Deer in bama can grow to super star status in most areas. Just takes time to let em get old. Most never see 3 or 4 needs couple years past that to get the goods

I hunted 1800 acres in the black belt 40 years ago. Killed some whopper deer.
As fait would have it I wound up back on the property 3 years ago
Basket rack heaven. Nothing like it was in the late 70’s

Exactly. There are superstars within each age class. Bigger bodies bigger racks. Most superstar bucks in AL are killed when they are 2 or 3 yr olds. That 115-120” 2 yr old and 135-140” 3 or 4 yr old are the ones that grow into the bucks like these two, at 6 and 7. Problem is in Alabama 98% of them are killed long before they even turn 4.
