More people have been killed by deer than bears.

Why would you not believe it?

Very typical behavior for a buck that has been raised by humans and possibly in rut.

Has no fear of humans.

Lot's of deer attack people in breeding facilities pretty often.

Easily believable to me.

Oh I can believe the attack part just not sure about the choke hold until the deer quit fighting part. That pick was a pretty good size deer. I have grabbed a live deer before that I thought was dead and I definitely don’t think I could choke one out.

No telling what a man could do with the thought of dying on your mind and adrenaline running through your body.

I have two problems with this.

Why was his gun in his truck, instead of on his hip? One of my cameras caught me pruning muscadines last week. With a pistol on my hip.

Failing that, where was a scary sharp pocketknife? I go a few places where I can't carry a firearm. Other than the courthouse, I always have a knife. Since I am there to renew my carry permit, it bugs me no end that I have to be unarmed to make that walk.

Know a guy that got attacked when he returned to his dead deer after dark. He thought when he shot it, it was done for, dropped and didn’t flinch. He drove his 4 wheeler back to the stand walked to where it was. He turned as the thing attacked and all he had was a D Mag Maglight. He beat the crap out of it as it pushed him all over the place. The bucks antlers lodged up against some trees and he finished it off with the flashlight. It was one of those that held like 4 D batteries and purple. I gave him a hard time about the color.

I’ll see if he still has that pic.

There was an article years ago about deer attacks. I think the previous year 17 people were attacked by deer. He said he was writing the article cause he was attacked. Blindsided in his blind of cornstalks in wide open field. He’d been grunting and so forth

If an old man can choke a leopard to death with his bare hands, I believe a deer wouldn't be any more difficult. Dude pulled the tongue out with his bare hands.

A guy at the farm snapped a good sized buck’s neck last year. They tracked it all around the farm and ended up behind the duck hole. Had shot it several times during the track and finally jumped on its back. The tracker called to tell me about it. Said he’d never ever seen anything like it. The hunter is a big ol burly guy and barrel chested isn’t close to describing his size. The tracker has lost his pistol and the hunter lost shot all his bullets he had on him.

Not saying it didn’t go down the way described it happened not far from me. My first thought was he got attacked and popped it with the 38. Absolutely no reason to not believe him though.

Years ago a guy I worked with shot a nice buck on Redstone Arsenal. He was an excellent bow hunter. Deer was down in a pasture, no movement, he walks up and it went straight at him. Knocked him down, antlers hung in his overalls. The buck kept collapsing trying to fight him but he couldn't get untangled. He had a knife but when he would move the buck attacked again. After about 45 minutes of back and forth he was able to get its head pinned down and cut its throat.

I know of a similar story from the early 90's in the Tuscaloosa area. The mag light was administered to a doe after it was hit by a car.

My first and only fisticuffs on an Alabama 8 pt end with me being beat up and ashamed. Not going through the whole story, but you can bet, I won't ever, and I mean ever grab a buck by the rack. Damn thing took the hide Off both arms and damn near ripped my forarms off. I'm a pretty good size fella and sling iron everyday, but the amount of strength and muscles in his neck are unbelievable.
