I’ve run a Bering SH and regular Hogster for 3-4 years. Zero complaints. I ran L3/Trijicon and other stuff for 7-8 years before that, but I didn’t have to pay for them. The RIX and NocPix with mechanical zooms intrigue me for getting more shooting range/definition. As long as you pick good specs, good material construction like VOx and NOT SiO2 (many Pulsars) and good warranty, you’re good: 384/640, 12u pp, >/= 50mhz refresh, biggest objective you can afford, good FOV, etc. I can dive in deeper on the what/why for the different spec combos and expectations, but there are LOTS of good brands out there. Not knocking Pulsar, but they’re kinda like Matthews or Benelli: while they can be very good, you don’t know how much better build you might could afford if you weren’t paying their advertising/marketing budget. Don’t sweat Chinese sourced parts. Look for US service and warranty coverage. Anyone touting ‘non-Chinese’ sensors is getting them from Belarus (Russian ‘quality’). Usually through France. (Caveat: unless you’re buying Trijicon, L3, Raytheon, stuff that’s all US produced due to military customers….but those are still higher $ than even Armasight, iRay, etc….which are blends of foreign sources and domestic, AFAIK. Stuff also changes daily and can make your devices and info dated. There’s also thermal light valve tech in existence which could drop prices while increasing resolution. Not sure when we’ll see it.
