Here are a few items to consider: 1. Peel your shrimp. This will greatly increase your whiting bite. You can tip the shrimp with a tiny piece of fish bites to hold it on the hook. 2. I wouldn’t fish muddy or grassy water. Muddy water will most likely produce hardhead catfish. 3. Spring and fall are best months for surf fishing. Winter is okay for whiting. There are less whiting and pompano in the summer months and the grass can be treacherous to fish in. 4. Adjust the amount of weight you use to the water conditions. A claw weight is necessary if the surf is rough. 5. Use 30lb braid tipped with a 12 - 15lb mono leader. You can cast that a mile! 6. For pompano, try finding a washed out area (darker deeper water). Whiting can be very close to the surf. 7. Tide coming in is better but sometimes you don’t have a choice. 8. Thin wire semi-circle hooks work well. 9. Pompano can be well off shore at times so a 9-10 rod can really help with distance. Awesome tips. Thanks you so much. Great stuff.
