This woman comes to our orchard with her kids every year, u picking peaches. Ive never mer her, my wife saysshe actually has maybe 7 kids, from 2-12yo. They live about a mile up the road from my mom. I wonder if the cops hadnt found drugs in the house if they would have charged her. I wonder if our DA wasnt running for higher office would she have been charged. Apparently the two older kids, 4yos, got the gun out of the closet and one of them shot the 2yo. Mom is in another room. Mom hears shot and goes in there and finds her baby shot. Mom goes to jail for manslaughter. I have a gun in my nightstand. I dont have a 4yo and i might do things different if i did. Matter of fact, we had my wifes neices 2yo and 4yo for about a month before Christmas and i put that gun up, just in case something like this might happen. On the other hand, i sure wouldnt have wanted to be the deputy who put the cuff on a mother who just found her baby dead. My opinion is it was a horrible accident that the mom has already paid for dearly. And the drugs found, probably in the same room, probably had alot to do with the charges being brought. Im not a fan of our DA either. She is a self promoter and that might have something to do with the charges being brought as well. Sad situation for sure. A bunch of kids without a mom or youngest sibling today.

As long as I can remember there were guns in our house growing up, but dad had us convinced he would know if one had moved, and ass whooping was coming. My 2 was brought pretty much same way never had problem. But like you if other kids coming guns were put out of reach or locked in room. Todays method raising kids is a disaster all way around.

I have one of the little finger activated safes on my nightstand, only my finger will open it. Felt better doing that than hiding a gun in a drawyer with kids in my house. Think you can put up yo like 10 peoples fi ger print in for the safe to recognize if you wanted a spouse or teenager to be able to access it too.

We kept guns up when the kids were little, but they were taught correctly and had early experience shooting so there was little temptation to mess with them anyway.

I feel for this lady but its obvious she was making some bad choices. I'm with you on the DA. Seriously, do we really want women, in general, in these positions? I know I don't.

When my kids were small all I had in the house was a double barrel Rossi Stagecoach 12 ga in the bedroom unloaded with the breech open and half a dozen shells hidden in the top shelf of a closet. It stayed that way for many years.

Most likely an anti-gun district attorney. Do they charge the parent of a child who drowns, gets run over by a car, falls climbing a tree, killed in a car wreck....no

NO!

Some other charge, maybe. If she was charged why not the father also? He wasn't home but just as responsible for the guns being there and proper storage.

I have never been a fan of keeping guns in drawers. I keep them high where I at 6' 4" can reach them or in a safe. Taught my kids about guns at a young age. If they felt a need to see one then they asked and we would safely look at them, hold them, whatever. Also taught them that if at a friends house and they see a gun to not touch but get away from it and go tell an adult; if adult didn't act or wasn't one there then come home.

This Blount Co DA is always looking for a way to expand her resume, I think she is running for AL AG. Let it play out in court and see if manslaughter sticks.

No - They may have been negligent in the storing of the weapons, but I can’t think of anything worse than losing a child in that way. It is a tragedy that could have been avoided, but not malicious intent.

There was a couple in Colbert County, AL a few years ago charged with manslaughter. A friend brought her child over to there house. The child found a handgun in the bedroom and shot himself. I searched but couldn’t find the news article .

I agree I think it was a horrible accident. But also Casey is pushing her run for a state office and trying to put her name out more

Yea I ain't got much use for her. She forced a school to hire her husband who has no degree and made them keep him. That's not right to ones who got their degree, and couldn't fill that position. I will add this was a few years ago, so I don't know if he's still there

No thats excessive. It was an accident. Her punishment is the loss of a child.

This . Loss of child is something she will live with rest her life . She is partly liable but she didn’t pull the trigger . The drugs is a different story .

You sound like a liberal. You cannot make decisions based on emotion. You're trying to make decisions based on emotion and that doesn't work.

ey, decisions today affects our consequences tomorrow. Sorry lady, you were irresponsible and because you were irresponsible, one of your kids is dead. You need to go to jail!
