I bet the CC companies raise fee's at the register and stop offering points. They can’t, because the transaction fees are set by visa etc not the credit card issuer.

No, not unilaterlaly like his statement suggests. He has to get Congress to roll with it. But there is a bipartisan bill in committee proposing a temporary 10% cap.

CC companies will quit issuing cards to people with poor credit. If they cant earn the inflated interest rates for taking on higher risk, it makes no sense to take the risk. In all honesty most of those people shouldn't have credit cards anyway.
