When you got a craving, you have to satisfy it.

I like the idea, but I haven't been able to eat one in years. The last were from the White Cap in Gulfport. I didn't get sick from those, but that was the last meal I ate before the norovirus about wiped the whole family out. It wasn't those oysters, but that's a perceived connection I can't unmake.

Where I actually got sick from was the Shrimp Basket in Evergreen, AL. because some piece of excrement didn't wash their hands before preparing our food. Put me flat on my back in a ditch and the rest of the family in the ER. My baby girl was in the hospital for a week. Burning that place to the ground would be overreacting because the walking toilet bowl probably wouldn't be inside when it happened.

Enjoy them but ain’t driving 946 miles to pay $22 a dozen, After I was part of the wife’s family for Christmas they got me my own oyster shucking knife and glove, used to sit in the driveway and eat oysters, they would go to South Alabama( where they grew up) and bring back a bushel every trip when in season

The only two places I will eat raw oysters anywhere near here are Capeside in Rainbow City and The Fish Market in Birmingham.

I’m just mad that certain foods are now desired and promoted.
Oysters and crawfish were once considered trash, heck even lobster was at one time.

I took a break from them for years but I’m back on em again. I’ve been getting 5-10 35# boxes a week from Anna’s in Bayou La Batre, just ordering for friends/family, I think the oysters are coming from La though. They’ve been good to me

Living in Mobile, pretty much live off anything from the water. Oyster, shrimp whatever. Have to still be careful where you get them from, even from here.

I love raw oysters, but I ain't ordering any at $22/dozen. I'll just have a steak or a couple of pounds if shrimp instead.

I think that is the oyster bar/restaurant shucked price.

Mom has a place in Alligator point. She sent me a pic of some fine looking ones last week just to make me jealous. We are the only 2 in our family that will eat them.
