Difference is Saban lost 6 first year with the mediocre players he inherited. Then improved with a single recruiting class to only lose 2. DeBoer inherited plenty of talent and didn’t improve in year 2.

The argument a lot of people give with they compare the record of Saban and Debor’s first 2 years is Saban inherited an empty roster and Deboar inherited a loaded roster. While this is mostly true, I just wonder how many coaches have taken over for a highly successful coach and basically kept the winning consistent? Deboar made the playoffs in his second year, he has the #2 recruiting class this year including the #1 RB. It boils down to the Bama national is totally spoiled. They make the playoffs in his second year and the bama fans are ready to give him the boot. At Auburn, the coaches office is a revolving door. Texas has unlimited resources, probably the best facilities in college football and they havent had the success as Alabama. If Deboar was a bad coach, he couldn’t have taken over for the GOAT and been able to maintain success.

Didnt Bama have a lot of players hit the portal when Saban retired......I know we lost one of the best DB's in the nation to Ohio St

CKD made the CFP on year two. Well done. Plenty, plenty of room for improvement. I’m not going through the mental gymnastics to try to convince anyone that thinks he should be gone. We’ve all seen how pitiful a head coaching carousel looks. I ain’t saying he’s the next Saban or Bear (too early to tell) but this fan is looking fwd to the next season knowing we got a dang good coach at the helm.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Pathetic when Bammers call limping into the playoffs and getting curb stomped a successful season.

DeBoer inherited a loaded team. But the era he's in doesn't factor into other coaches first 2 seasons. It's completely different now. It's like comparing apples to potato salad.

Pathetic when Bammers call limping into the playoffs and getting curb stomped a successful season. First let me say, I went to Auburn and the older I get (67) I get, the less football means to me. But getting curb stomped (which is totally true) doesnt look as bad with Indiana “Curb stomping” Oregon as well. But by any account, making the playoffs is a successful season. I know your comment is fan fodder but what I would give to see AU make the playoffs, even if they got curb stomped by Indiana. The bama fans complaining about everything from what Deboar wears to analyzing the OL and QB, RB, defense are just spoiled, They need to walk a mile in an Auburn fans shoes over the last 10-20 years. The days of Saban dominating are over. The jury is out on how successful Deboar will be, but as a AU grad, I would trade the past two years with Bama any day. Just telling the truth.
