I grew up in the heart of the MS Delta and the hunting sucked because everyone shot every buck they saw. Sure, it was great on the big river clubs, but the heart of ag land was shot out. It didn’t start improving until marginal land was put back into habitat and people slowly started to see what could happen if you let deer get some age on them. And let’s not kid ourselves, the rednecks got priced out. It will blow your mind to see what gets killed on a regular basis now. Heck, my 73 yr old mother killed a 150” 8pt on her 80 acres a couple weeks ago. That’s her 2nd buck to break 150” off of 80 acres in the last few years. Alabama has a lot of potential, but the hunting culture sucks for quality.
