For those in the back

Let’s clear something up, because way too many people are confidently wrong.

A limited military strike is not a declaration of war.
Never has been. Never worked that way.

Screaming “Congress didn’t approve it!” just tells everyone you don’t understand how U.S. power is structured.

The Constitution already settled this.

Under Article II, the President is the Commander in Chief. That role exists so the Executive can act immediately when American interests or security are threatened - not after a weeks-long political circus.

Congress’s job is to authorize full-scale wars.
The President’s job is to neutralize threats.

That division wasn’t an accident. The founders knew that forcing emergency military decisions through hundreds of politicians would be suicidal.

This isn’t some new loophole or Trump-specific invention either.

Presidents from both parties have ordered strikes abroad for decades without formal war declarations - drones, missiles, airstrikes, special ops. It’s standard practice, backed by precedent and legal interpretation.

Even the Justice Department has consistently maintained that short, targeted actions in defense of national security do not meet the constitutional definition of “war.”

What we’re talking about here is precision action, not an invasion.

No occupation.
No open-ended conflict.
Just degrading hostile capabilities and sending a message.

If things spiral into a prolonged conflict, Congress can absolutely step in. That’s where their authority kicks in.

But at this stage?

The President is operating squarely within constitutional bounds.

So spare everyone the performative outrage about “no vote.”

The justification is national security.
And the law already gives the authority.

If that reality upsets you, that’s an education problem - not a constitutional one.

We used to run drug overdoses weekly, sometimes daily. This is in a town with a population around 10,000. I don't remember the last overdose we ran. It was probably early summer.

Im not really connected to the drug world so i dont know the answer to the supply question. I wonder about the drugs floating in the ocean. Tons of fyntenol floating or blown up in the ocean. Im not a fan of that. I wouldnt want to be swimming in a fyntenol slick or eat any fish that have been living in it. I know the ocean is big. I still dont like it. I also dont doubt one bit our govt being involved in anytbi g anywhere is an attempt to steal money from us or others, thats kinda whatvthey do.

Maybe?

Quote
This ENTIRE conflict wasn't about oil...not specifically. It was about the devaluation of the US dollar by leverage of oil.
The petrodollar is the entire US economy, and If it goes, then war is usually the ONLY way to right the economic ship.

Venezuela was selling oil to EVERYONE that was against the US, and let's be honest...that's most of the superpowers. The key was HOW they were paying. They accepted all payments EXCEPT the US dollar.

Trump most likely just stop gapped a serious recession, and instead of praise it's instant rage.

Edit..add...

Here's a question for all of my Democrat/Liberal friends who are decrying the US capture of Maduro in Venezuela. What's the difference between President Obama ordering US forces to enter a sovereign nation, without their permission, to intentionally kill Osama Bin Laden, who was under a US indictment (issued in 1998, under the Clinton administration) and President Trump ordering US forces to capture Nicolas Maduro-unharmed--to prosecute him under a US indictment for narcotrafficking issued in 2020?

The truth is the world is a better place today that yesterday. The truth is regardless of details, a once free country has the opportunity to be free again if they want it bad enough. The truth is, America's enemies, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea are weaker today than yesterday. And they are all taking note. Iran is failing as I type. Russia is weaker today than they've been in more than a century. North Korea is meaningless and they know it. China... well, as long as we are beholden to China for trade, they will continue to be a problem for us. But they also are weaker now than 5 years ago. Their economy is in shambles but because they're communist, they can largely hide it. They have an aging and declining population. Their military is full of graft. So much so they've discovered water in missiles instead of fuel. Their military may look strong on paper, but is just like every other inferior Chinese product produced. Their expansion through loans has taken a huge blow and almost no country wants their money or loans. Their pacific neighbors have a strangle hold on their shipping lanes. They are and always have been a paper tiger that our politicians have been allowed to strengthen through trade and shipping our jobs and manufacturing overseas. They got too big for their britches under Biden. Trump may not be perfect, but he is taking steps on multiple levels to weaken China too. Biden left is in a horrible mess. He had help and a lot of it. The demoncrats have robbed us blind and we've barely scraped the top of the corruption. The republicans saber rattled but didn't do shit to stop it, went along with it in fact. While I don't like him on a personal level and far from agree with all his decisions. The only person in the entire world trying to correct all this is Trump. That's the truth. I've long since gave up on high ground and morals when it comes to dealing with our enemies. We aren't perfect but we are a far cry better than the alternatives. We can and should be better. That's hard to do surrounded by Communism, Marxists, liberals and a media that is the enemy of the people.

This is why I rarely watch ANY news. I don’t believe anything put out the media, regardless of the source. People can say I’m uniformed but am I really? If it’s all BS being fed to us, am I really uninformed if I don’t partake? I know what my morals are and how I believe. Nothing will change that. I’m happier not watching all the BS

None of that is to say that there is not shit going on behind the scenes when the government tells you something or does something. There certainly is shit going on behind the scenes. Rarely is anything we see exactly as it seems.

If you want to really dive deep then read:

Those two will kind of get you started into learning about the lengths our own government will go to to protect "our" interests in the World and attempt to maintain the balance of power. Beware though it's some crazy shit we have done and continue to do. And a warning if you are this "Rah Rah, go America" type person, you are going to learn about some seriously bad shit that we have done to maintain our place in the World.

I'm a naturally an upbeat kind of person, so I have taken what I have learned from books like these and compartmentalized it with the knowledge that sometimes good people have to do really bad things to ensure the future of other good people. None of that is to say that there have not been bad people in service of the US, because there certainly has been that too.

So, you want to belittle Aldeerians with an opinion calling them blowhards and turn around and quote a writer and past editor of the San Francisco Times as fact, gotcha, pass the salt.

So should we have book burnings like the Nazi's and Khmer Rouge?

We can't have people reading stuff that might disagree with us.

You are correct, I'm limited to technical reading, I hope to pleasure read later in life. I just thought it was ironic that the author was also the founder of a tabloid and as liberal as they come. It's just not a factual book to my understanding without reading it and has been sensationalized.

I don't doubt there is bad stuff going on, I have studied the effects of CIA involvement in VN.
