2 wins away from a Natty --- 1 win and you get to play for it. Now, almost all the assistant coaches are headed to LSU, this is while Ole Miss is still playing. This is just abhorrent! Pete Golding is being sabotaged by the same guy that deflected from TN. and Alabama (during a championship run, no less).
I haven't wanted a coach to fail as much as any coach coaching Auburn, James Franklin (he took all those players he was recruiting for Vanderbilt when he left for PSU, this was before the transfer portal mess), and now Kiffin.
I'm not an Ole Miss fan, I wanted to run Golding out of Bama as much as anyone, but I love an underdog too. Go Getum Golding!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want Kiffin to fail. I don't want Ole Miss to fail. I want the system fixed because IT has failed. Kiffin used the system to is advantage within the parameters that the system has in place. Players use the Transfer Portal to their (hopeful) advantage within the parameters that are in place. Both scenarios are terribly flawed and are killing what used to be a great sport(s). There is no longer any honor in the word of a coach or the word of a player. It's all about $$$ and it's no longer amateur sports.

Screw Kiffin and all his cowardly assistants, say what you want but they abandoned those players, they are money grubbing cowards imo.

National signing day for HS players is always first week in Feb. Move it to the last week in Feb. Do not open the portal until the second week in Feb. That way there is no pressure for players or coaches to make moves or do anything until after the season. Heck, for that matter, make it so schools cannot hire a coach until after the national championship game is over. Under the above scenario, you’ve got a couple weeks to get coaches hired, a couple weeks later the portal opens and a couple weeks later it’s national signing day. Right now it’s just one big free for all on all fronts with everything happening while the season is still going on.

I could care less about college football but I have kept up with the kiddin stuff. It looks like to me he felt as if he as bettering himself which everyone on this forum would do and he tried to stay and coach and ole miss said no. Don’t see how this is on him.

Do away with Spring training, have a camp of some sort in June instead. That way transfers don't miss that early training and also get a full academic year. We all know academics really matter to a large percentage of players.

That's his BS story to make himself look good; he knew Ole Miss could not let him stay and be an advertisement for LSU, working the players and not focused on the job at hand. The players had a different story, also. He had been interviewing since Nov. 1.

Kids leave all the time now, with no loyalty to the coach or school. Used not to be the case and when it was, I could see blaming a coach for not standing by his team. Now with NIL and the portal, why shouldnt the coaches be in a position to do the exact same thing. NCAA made the rules. Both sides are playing the game and using them to their advantage. Kids leave for better opportunity and more money all the time. They quit mid-season to save eligibility, opt out of bowl games, etc. This causes major issues for the coaches that were counting on them to be a part of their team moving forward, yet I dont hear anyone jumping the kids about transfering, saving elibility, or opting out. They just say "well they are just looking out for their best interest. There are supposedly 4500 or exactly one third of all FBS college football players in the portal right now. I've got no sympathy whatsoever for any of the players complaining about Lane leaving them. Lane did what is best for Lane and what puts him the the best position to field a competitive team and win in the current NIL environment. I feel certain that if Ole Miss had ponied up the NIL guaranteed money, that LSU did, and matched the salary, Lane most likely would have stayed. Ole Miss didnt have the money, well in today's unregulated world, that's just too dang bad for your school, players and program. Welcome to the world that the USM's, USA's, La Techs, UAB's and all the smaller schools have been living in for the past 40 years. NCAA allowed the power conferences to get too powerful and then caved to the NIL and portal fiasco. Failed to institute any controls or regulations over any of it and here we are.

I feel certain that if Ole Miss had ponied up the NIL guaranteed money, that LSU did, and matched the salary, Lane most likely would have stayed. . Totally agree. As I posted a few weeks back, Lane isn't the villian he's made out to be here IMO. He built a heck of a product at OM, but he wants to be at a place where all the pieces are in place to win a natty. Had OM been able to match, like for like, maybe he'd have stayed. Him simply wanting more (more anything, NIL $$, bigger salary, a program w' more prestige, etc) in the current culture of college football doesn't make him less than. Despite my thoughts on the matter, history probably won't be kind to him. I hope he does well at LSU, except when they play the Tide
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

I don’t mind a coach leaving, but I think he was dumb to do it. His team is making a deep run into the playoffs and he won’t get any credit for it, legacy wise. Odds are he won’t have as much success at LSU as his team already has at Ole Miss.
He was making $9mm at Miss vs $13mm now. He could’ve talked Ole Miss into more. So it wasn’t really about money. It was about winning. But his old team is the one doing the winning. It makes no sense.

I am no Kiffin fan, but I blame this entire mess on the NCAA for basically having no oversight and the dumbest implementation of the portal along with the NIL. It is almost as if they had Joe Biden draw up the new rules to implement these programs.

This portal window isn't going too well for the narcissist. Its looking like Ole Miss is going to retain all the key players from this years team that were assumed to be heading to the bayou. I think this team has come together to realize where their true loyalty lies, and it is not and never has been with Kiffin.
I think it is also becoming clear who was actually doing the work behind the portal king label. LSU has signed one player, some WR from Hawaii. Pete Golding has brought in quite a few key replacemnt players and is sitting at #7 in portal class rankings right now. Kiffin has always been a lazy recruiter, and his tism comes out on one on one family visits.
Hopefully this team can win 2 more games to cement his legacy as the narcissist that walked out on a championship team.
