Tags tied to property size / landowners .........NOT GONNA HAPPEN. That's for states with limited animals and high hunter numbers , especially non-residents , wanting to hunt them. Think Elk. Once again , solutions for problems that don't exist .

Dang 2Dogs, you just perfectly described exactly what CNC has been screaming. We don’t have near enough deer, and what we do have is being killed off quickly. Way too many hunters and the number is increasing every yr. Way way too many OOS deer slaughtering marauders. It’s probably the perfect time to institute a landowner tag system. Especially since all the charts and graphs are showing it’s happening statewide and even in the non-fragmented areas. I know you’re a prudent man and care about the wildlife. Are you implying that you don’t believe what CNC’s been preaching?

Always been pretty good at not falling prey to slick talkin' preachers.

On a serious note on this subject , hunters who don't own land or have family or really good friend who does , probably couldn't afford a landowner tag on a primo place. Maybe a second job or tap the kids college fund would get them across the finish line. Hunting is already expensive and those who cry about that the most want to send the price in the stratosphere. Public land would get mighty crowded , if you get drawn .

Public land, at the core of its concept, is a socialist tenet and therefore should be crowded. Is your signature line just something you thought sounded good?

I know you’re a thoughtful poster on here and I like 90% of your thoughts. I’m just pointing out that there has to be some way to better balance the scales between those who invest and those who only consume.

That sounds Bernie Sandersish.

Tags based off acreage would wreck deer hunting in Alabama. Rich people buy more land poor people don’t get to hunt. Works really well for the deep pockets. In Alabama you’ll create a bunch of outlaws with that. Sometimes people and managment goals become super selfish. Folks that get to hunt all week every week on better than average property can get really critical of the weekend warrior that’s just doing the best he can.

Again. Just the opposite. I’m amazed at self professed conservatives who claim to hate socialism…until they’re a beneficiary.

Pal , you're very confusing , perhaps I'd follow you better if I read your posts upstream and in other threads , but I don't have the time or inclination . BTW , I own my own property , when I shut the gate behind me , it's a dictatorship .

You should read your second sentence in the top quote , real slow. Sounds like Ol' Bern to me. Perhaps you should have expounded on it a little.

I guess me and you are like to people looking at abstract art , we seeing two different things.

T, I probably am getting a little critical. But it’s not of the weekend warrior, it’s of the 40 acre landowner who between himself, friends and family are taking multiple limits and destroying his neighbors ability to achieve even modest management goals.

T-hatchie, there is no way to create enough rules or laws to keep people from abusing a resource. It’s gonna happen. It happens in midwestern states as well. You can’t legislate human nature out of the equation. Either someone is a good steward with the resource God has blessed them with, or they are not.

Long as the neighbor is following the law , you gotta learn to like it , buy him out or move to a "better neighborhood." Small landowners have rights too. I have neighbors I'm not crazy about , just goes with the territory .

He is following the law, I agree. I’d like to give him better laws to follow. That’s my point.

Yall need to quit arguing. It’s a moot point anyway. CNC’s 9,341 posts on the subject, including informative, color charts and graphs, clearly indicate that in five years or less, there won’t be enough deer left in the state to even have a deer season. Let’s just all remain friends, go hunting and see who can be lucky enough to shoot the last one left in the state.
