I’m torn on who I want to see win out from here. OM I think
DeBoer/Bama has the #2 recruiting class for 2026

#3 Last season.

Just for giggles I took a look at O Line recruiting classes for Indiana and Alabama the last three seasons. (Since we had 23 yards and they played "get off the tracks bitch because the train is coming through" on Bama.

Alabama Star National Rank Pos Rank
Michael Carroll 5 12 1
Jackson Lloyd 4 59 12
Mal Waldrep 4 N/A 37
Casey Poe 4 158 6
Kadyn Proctor 5 5 1
Olaus Ainin 4 135 12
Wilkin Formby 4 172 15
Miles McVay 4 N/A 21

Indiana
Baylor Wikin 2 N/A 84
Evan Parker 3 N/A 98
Matt Marek 3 N/A 138
Evan Lawrence 3 N/A 43
Adedamola Ajani 3 N/A 78
Austin Leibfried 3 N/A 89
Mitch Verstegen 3 N/A 185
Austin Barret 3 N/A 81
Will Larkins 3 N/A 95
Bubba Jeffries 3 N/A 98

Bama - Avg star (4.2) Avg Pos Rank (13)
Indiana - Avg star (2.8) Avg Pos Rank (99)
What's interesting is that none of those Indiana recruits listed started in the Rose Bowl. All of their starters were 23-24 years old. I assume transfers? Cignetti is good at identifying talent and fit to his system; he was recruiting coordinator for Saban.
3 of the Alabama recruits started; 1 true freshman. One will be a high 1st round draft choice.
On the Bama list, Lloyd, Waldrep, Poe are Freshman; Alinen Soph, McVay transferred to N.C. last year.

Honestly those recruiting services aren’t great at identifying talent sometimes. They can be a star or a star and a half off very easily. Sometimes there ain’t an ounce of difference between a 3 and 4 star kid. All that stuff is opinion. It’s a whole lot easier to identify talent once it is playing against same level talent.

And Wew is right. Some coaches have a knack for identifying players that fit what they need.

Kinda like how Jon Gruden always seemed to know the camera was on him.

Yep ^^^^^.....Some folks are having a hard time coming to that realization.....Its one of the very reasons why Saban left when he did.....

They are soft.
The O Line is full of 4 and 5 stars and they get owned in the trenches nearly every game.
QB can’t throw the ball accurately over 15 yards.
Kicker is spotty.
Special teams are non existent and have been for years.
Constant turnovers.
Getting owned in TOP.

They are still upper tier SEC but I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the SEC is getting owned in the post season. It’s been pretty sickening to watch.

Yeah, I have watched them and they have slumped near the end of the year. But they did beat UGA earlier in the season, so they aren't too bad. The point I'm making is there are some very spoiled fans that can't handle adversity. You know, those melting down when they were behind by 17 against OU in the playoff before UA came back and won. There's probably 100 fanbases out there that would love to have that option to have their team on the big stage to compete.

As for Cignetti, I'll enjoy to watch Indiana win out this year (if that happens). IU has come from zero to the top of the field.......that's a good story. I'll also be interested to see how long he can continue with that success. I wonder if the NIL $$'s had significant affect on that success. If so, I suspect there will be other success stories in the future of non-historic programs rising to the top like IU. Staying there will be a challenge though.

Yeah I don’t think he can maintain it and just wait for the penalty of having success when everyone comes calling for his coaches. Saban had to do it every year once he turned it around and it eventually caught up. Same will happen with Indiana.

After Saban's 1st year,2007; Alabama had ZERO players drafted. NONE.
He won a National Championship 2 years later.

CKD isn’t going anywhere. So just stop.

Everyone has to understand that the Alabamas, Georgias, Ohio states, etc are not the only kings anymore. In what alternate universe does Alabama get shellacked by an Indiana? Well, IU got a crap pile of money and have bought some good players. Their coach pretty much said that on the field stage after the game. Same thing with Texas Tech. How about this. When would you ever see a QB who has been committed to Georgia for 2 years suddenly flip to Vanderbilt? Vanderbilt?? From Georgia. Well, at the last minute Vandy came off a pile of cash and bought him. It’s a different world now and us Bama fans need to accept that some schools are just going to outspend us for players and we will lose some games because of it.

Now, does Bama need to show some assistant coaches to the door? Absolutely. We got some issues there. Biggly. We got some hella good kids in the wings so let’s see what 2 more years gets us. I bet we will be playing for the natty in a couple of years.

I agree. It’s just people stirring the pot. There was a bunch of talk about how hard it would be to follow up Saban and everybody is trying to make it a story. We arguably should have been in the playoffs last year and were this year. Not bad for a man’s first two years. Room for improvement, no doubt. If bama starts firing coaches every 3 years we will end up like Auburn where no top tier coaches want to be there.

Ryan Grubb should have been fired Jan 2. If KD doesn't make any changes next year, and I don't have any reason to think he will, I think they will have that conversation.

The program continues to decline under Deboer and cracks are starting to show. Texas essentially took his lunch money this past weekend and kicked sand in his face. Watch and see.... within 2-3 years it will be v2 of the Mike Shula years. I don't necessarily think he should be fired because who's going to come at this point? That trigger should have been pulled weeks ago if it was going to be pulled at all. Kiffin is locked up, it would take 20 mil to get Cignetti to jump ship plus his buyout. You would have to hire some up and comer and take your chances.

All I know is the program is being bullied on the field, and on the recruiting trail. It is slowly showing weakness more and more on and off the field. The talking heads are shit talking us every Saturday on TV.

When was the last time you saw a Bama team that couldn't throw the long ball.
When in the last two years have you seen Bama just physically whip a FBS school?
Return a punt all the way?
Block a FG?
Run the ball down someone's throat for 4 quarters?
Make plays on Special Teams in general?
A playmaker WR? Williams and Bernard showed flashes in a couple of games but what about the Jameson Williams, John Metchies, or Devonta Smith types. Those caliber guys go to Ohio State or Miami now.

Bama doesn't do any of that anymore.

Now you are just letting other teams come in and have their way with your roster and take whomever they want.

It's weak, and like I said.... in three years it will be Shula ball all over unless something changes drastically. When the 12 team playoff was announced I thought to myself "Bame will be in the playoffs every season for the next 100 years". Pffft, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Bama is trending in the wrong direction under Deboer.

I’m a bama fan but u can see early signs there’s issues. I don’t think they will be resolved anytime soon. Until there’s a model change or something put in place dealing with nil u better have truck loads of money. There’s gonna have to be unfortunately a major scandal with nil and school or schools to get some oversight. As plenty have stated it’s the Wild West. No loyalty no traditions of playing for a certain school just who will pay the most. Don’t blame the players blame the system. I think Debo may end up being a casualty of this system cause if no money isn’t put up u will lose as we have seen with texas raking them in. I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad coach by any means but didn’t think from the beginning he was a good fit but maybe im wrong about that time will tell.
