I’m just sitting here on an endless loop of whitetail properties, growing deer tv and Souther U.

Here's a unseasonably warm spin-off. Many folks that are having trouble seeing deer during this heat wave will say " they didn't rut this year". My lab overheated yesterday just running around at the farm. He was chasing snipe all around the flooded spots in the field. I believe it , be rough on a pack of Beagles chasing those high speed cane cutters too.

Coupled of buddies I touch base with have been sitting at the house and we’re in prime time. Dad killed a nice 8 yesterday at 12:30 chasing a doe temps in the 70’s. They’re going to do it regardless of any outside factors. Miserable dragging I can tell you that.😥

I killed a fine mature 8 yesterday morning and a fellow that hunts with me some killed a fine 9 with bladed brow tines and g3s in Houston county. It was hot, unbelievably hot.

I lazy hunted yesterday afternoon on a 1.5 acre, lush, balansa clover plot that hasn’t been hunted all year. It was getting hammered 30-45 days ago. Didn’t feel like climbing so I walked in and got in house with the thermacell running. It was 77 when I went in, and 72 when I got back to the truck at 6:00. Completely skunked. Did not see an animal. Last couple years this field would fill up every afternoon. Not a deer seen. I was almost convinced that CNC was right and all our deer were dead too. Lol. Right up until this morning, when I shook off my laziness, grabbed a summit and jacked up a tree in a big hardwood drain loaded with red and water oaks, about 200 yds from the cover plot. Got in at 5:40, hunted til 9:00. Saw 9. A 3 yr old 7, a 4 yr old 9, a spike, 3 does and 3 yearlings. All the activity was from daylight til around 7:30 and they concentrated almost exclusively on the red oaks. Heard the neighbors corn slinger go off at 7:00 and none of those deer even raised their heads. Once the sun got up and it started warming up, they all eased down into the swamp and activity shut down completely. It was refreshing to know that all our deer haven’t died since all those late summer pics.

This warm spell did help a couple of plots thicken up a little.
