Me and the family came up for a few days. I NEVER want to see anyone on here complain about beach traffic again. This is miserable. Traffic lights, turn lanes, traffic circles, etc, make zero sense the way they are set up. Vehicles going every direction all at once. I have seen ONE police officer while here so there’s no one to help with traffic either. I guess this is the one good thing about me still having that lingering cough from pneumonia, because the wife and kids let me rest while they go and do whatever. When I get out of this place, I’m NEVER coming back.

Yeah, if youre gona go up there, you need to plan a trip that dont require driving around much. From Seveirvill all the way to the other side of Gatlinburg sux pretty bad. And its just getting worse

We went in April and had planned to hike some of the trails. Even the trails were shoulder to shoulder.

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is the single busiest week of the year up there. Additionally several parts of the park are closed for the winter season so visitors are even more condensed.
I like it up there but I can’t see any circumstance where I’d be up there this week

Me and Jennifer went to Gatlinburg around this time the year we started dating. It took us all day toget from Gatlinburg around Cades cove and back to Gatlinburg. All day, bumper to bumper. That rurnt me on Gatlinburg. We started going to Wilderness in the smomies every year when the kids were little. One time we drove from there to Gatlinburg and back. Never again. This year we stayed in Townsend early november. That was much more low key. I liked that alot better.

I am Up here right now at my F I L house off Wears valley.
If or when I leave I go to townsend. Then cades cove. Cades cove was stupid
Today with the amount of people. I needed to go pick up
Medicine at the pharmacy at Publix. Most folks I ever saw in one.
And every line had folks with buggy fulls. Turned around and went and made me
A ham sandwich.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

Wife n i were up feb last year. Really thin crowd. Crossing the street one night 9-10pm and freakin cop get on pa and tells us to use the crosswalk. There. Wasnt. Another. Car. Onthe street!

If you go the week before Thanksgiving, and leave before all of the Thanksgiving crowd gets there, it’s not nearly as crowded. Christmas time…forget it.

The absolute best time of year to go to Gatlinburg/PF/GSMNP is mid/late-Jan….preferably during the week if possible. Some parts of the park are closed and the weather can be a little iffy, but the crowds are almost non-existent and you can actually enjoy the park
